May God hold you close in your loss. Greater love has no man than he would lay down his life for his friend--and policemen are the friends of all who love peace and order. Thank God for this brave, good man.

I didn't know Det. Walter personally but I know many of his colleagues. This was tragic day for my friends and brothers in blue. Two other officers were on scene and in the line of fire. They didn't back down or run away. They fought, they are true soldiers. Detective Walter paid the ultimate sacrifice and died for those he was sworn to protect. Det. Walter you are a true hero and you will never be forgotten. On behalf of my department, my family, and myself, we all will be praying for your family and your colleagues. We honor you.
