Hey Ray,
Just stumbled upon here and thought I would say hello. I just saw your mom today and hugged her. She is such a great lady!! We still miss you and I think about you a lot. Katie and I are still BFF's. In fact, I named my 2nd little girl Layla Katherine after her. Donovan is so big and him and Caroline fight like brother and sister. They are so cute! I know that you still continue to watch over us! Love you!

What a great friend, police partner, and person you were to me, and thanks for everything you done for me!! I know Donovan will continue to carry his dad's torch of honor.

Courtney,
From the halls of Whimell Elementary School to our graduation from Tunstall High School your friendship and companionship was second to none. This Saturday night we, your classmates, will have our first reunion, and oh the sadness that will fill our hearts because of your absence. But we take comfort in knowing that you will undoubtedly be watching down from above. May we honor you as we fellowship and reminisce of times gone by. From the depths of our hearts we thank you for your service to our community, and may we all strive to have the same determination and tenacity as you. Our daily prayers are still with your family, and may they be comforted by the almighty hands of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
Here's to "my boy" who was always the first one down the field on kickoff team!
Love,

Courtney,
Next month will be too long that you have been gone. I am happy to say that Donovan is growing up. The pictures Kati had of him in your uniform shirt and hat are wonderful. Last year, Donovan was in the same class with my little girl and they were good friends. I was able to see him more often then, but now not so much. A few times when I went to school with my daughter he would talk to me about you. He would out of the blue just say, "My Daddy is in Heaven, that's why he can't be here." I would tell him that you were there and you were watching him. He would smile. You are still missed and loved very much. There is a woman that comes into the department every so often and tells you hello. She just smiled and commented today that she has to say hello to you everytime she sees you.
You will always be remembered.

Officer Dickerson, I thought I'd just drop you a quick line and let you know your family, friends and I have not forgotten you. Although I never met you, I've read many of the reflections left by your close friends and loved ones. It's easy to say you were a man of honor and great integrity. It's been almost 3 years and we still remember your unselfish sacrifice. REST IN PEACE BROTHER!

"The Badge"
He starts his shift each day
To respond to calls unknown.
He drives a marked patrol car.
A police officer he is known.
He's paid by the citizens' taxes
To make it safe on the streets.
But he usually has a second job
'Cause a waitress has his salary beat.
Now he doesn't know a holiday
'Cause he works all year round.
And when Thanksgiving and Christmas finally arrive
At his home he cannot be found.
He's cursed and assaulted often,
The one whos blood runs blue.
He seldom ever gets a thanks,
To some he's just a fool.
His friends are always other cops
'Cause people just don't understand
That underneath his badge and gun,
He's just another man.
He knows there might not be a tomorrow
In this world of drugs and crime.
And he gets so mad at the court system
'Cause the crooks don't get any time.
And each day when he leaves for work,
He prays to God above.
Please bring me home after my shift
So I can see the ones I love.
But tonight he stops a speeding car,
He's alone down this ole' highway.
It's just a little traffic infraction.
He does it everyday.
Well, he walks up to the driver's window,
And his badge is shining bright.
He asked the guy for a driver's license,
When a shot rang through the night.
Yes, the bullet hit its mark,
Striking the officer in the chest.
But the Department's budget didn't buy
Each officer a bullet-proof vest.
So he lay on the ground bleeding.
His blood wasn't blue - His blood was red.
And briefly he thought of his loved ones
'Cause in a moment the officer was dead.
In the news they told the story
Of how this officer had died.
And some who listened cared less,
But those who loved him cried.
Well, they buried him in uniform
With his badge pinned on his chest.
He even had his revolver,
He died doing his best.

Officer Dickerson,
I never met you but I was reading about your terrible accident and I'm deeply sadden. I lost a close partner from my department back in 1994, so I know how your family is still hurting every day for you. You were a bright young man with a wonderful future in front of you. Your mom is heart broken on your death. Just wisper words of peace and comfort and let her know that God doesn't make mistakes. Although I didn't know you here on earth, I look forward to shaking your hand at the gates.
