Reflections for Trooper Donald Kevin Floyd

Our prayers go out to the family of Trooper Floyd and the Missouri State Highway Patrol. It has been a rough year for Missouri and the M.S.H.P. Having also lost one of our own I can only say I hope you realize what a special person Trooper Floyd is and what he ment to this great State. I can not speak for everyone but I am sure ar all proud of you Donald. P.S. say hey to William (MAC) McEntee and let him know we are watching after his family just like we will for you. God speed.

Too many times, Police Officers do not think the the civilians give them enough credit. We know what you all do and we DO appreciate it from the bottom of our hearts. Thank you Officer Floyd. May God Bless and keep you and your family.

May God comfort your family and your brothers and sisters of the Missouri State Highway Patrol. I have met many of them on the Gulf Coast and I know this is a hard time because of how close you are all to each other. Rest in Peace.

My sympathy to the Family. It wasn’t until this tragedy did I find out that not only was I related by profession but also by a true family connection. It is always hard to hear about a fellow Officer who has been killed doing his job, but to find out he is also related no matter how distantly is harder yet.

May Kevin stand proud at Heavens Roll Call,
May his brass always be shined,
May his weapon always at hand,
His uniformed always pressed.

Walk your beat proud and kept it safe until we join you on patrol.

Sgt. Scott R. Reed
Memphis Police Department

My deepest sympathies to your wife, children, friends and department. Rest in peace, Brother.

"THE FINAL INSPECTION"

The policeman stood and faced God,
Which must always come to pass.
He hoped his shoes were shining,
Just as brightly as his brass.

"Step forward now, policeman.
How shall I deal with you?
Have you always turned the other cheek?
To my church have you been true?"

The policeman squared his shoulders and said,
"No lord, I guess I ain't,
Because those of us who carry badges
can't always be a saint."

I've had to work most Sundays,
and at times my talk was rough,
and sometimes I've been violent,
Because the streets are awfully tough.

But I never took a penny,
That wasn't mine to keep
Though I worked a lot of overtime
When the bills got just too steep.

And I never passed a cry for help,
Though at time I shook with fear.
And sometimes, God forgive me,
I've wept unmanly tears.

I know I don't deserve a place
Among the people here.
They never wanted me around
Except to calm their fear.

If you've a place for me here, Lord,
It needn't be so grand.
I never expected or had too much,
But if you don't I'll understand.

There was a silence all around the throne
Where the saints had often trod.
As the policeman waited quietly,
For the judgement of his god.

"Step forward now, policeman,
You've born your burdens well.
Come walk a beat on Heaven's streets,
You've done your time in hell

Rest in Peace, your sacrifice will never be forgotten

Yet another brother has given his life for a very special job. A job most people chose not to do. Only a few really special people chose our profession. Missouri has lost another brother doing something that is routine in most cases. Kevin lost his life doing something most of us do on a regular basis.
Rest in peace, it's our watch now.

The friendship of Kevin will be missed, and his uplifting smile that he gave everyone in the community, along with the timeless fishing and hunting tips will forever be remembered.
Kevin has officer skills that can not be taught in an academy only in life. His fair treatment he gave to everyone he came in contact with was what he was known for.
Good Bye Kevin.

My heart breaks for your family as I read this. They will be in my prayers as I know the pain they are feeling. My first husband was also killed by a vehicle hitting him (while on a traffic stop) and he was also in his 21st year of service & also in Troop G. So many similarities.....Calvin will show Kevin around heaven and tell him lots of jokes. May God wrap his loving arms around you and carry you through this time. It's a rough road but somehow you learn to take one day at a time.
