Kenny,

It has been a long time since your passing. Things do go on, however I still see you in the reflection of your children and grand children. You are sadly missed by so many. I know they all would like one more day with you. They will see you on the back 9 one day. It has been over 8 years but the pain is still there. The kids/Grand kids and Kathy miss you !!

P.S ask the big guy to help Lorrie along with School, she is going to graduate again . Yes you were at the last one in Tampa over 8 years ago.

Peace Out....KB

Your heroism and service is honored today, the 8th anniversary of your death. Your memory lives and you continue to inspire. Thank you for your service. My cherished son Larry Lasater was a fellow police officer who was murdered in the the line of duty on April 24, 2005 while serving as a Pittsburg, CA police officer.

Time never diminishes respect. Your memory will always be honored and revered.

I pray for solace for all those that love and remember you for I know both the pain and pride are forever. Your family is in my heart's embrace. Thanks to your family and friends for sharing their memories and devotion to you through their reflections.

Rest In Peace.

I can still remember my first time getting into a patrol car. You were my FTO, you looked at me and said"well, laddie, are you ready, you got some big shoes to fill?" My old man was gone when I got the job. But, you kept me under your wing and kept me straight. You filled in for him and I'll never forget you for that. To this day, I still think "what would KB do" when I find myself faced with a tough decision and, to this day, it works every time. I'm looking at a picture of you, me and Joe on that detail at Bally's/Sands. It seems like it was only yesterday.
You are missed and you'll never be forgotten.

Dad...

I can't believe it's been 6 years. The kids and I miss you terribly. The memorial for you today in Atlantic City was sad but also a wonderful reminder of how many people care for you and how much you are missed at the Department.

I love you miss you everyday...

Dad, I can't believe it's been six years today. It always saddens me that I'm not able to be at the memorial service each year. I so deeply miss your bear hugs, your wit, and your matter of fact advice. The "Brown look" lives on in your grandchildren and the quick wit in all of us.

The memories of our time together live on in my heart and soul. I love so much to hear stories about you so I appreciate all of the people that add to this list. I love you dad.

"The Badge"

He starts his shift each day
To respond to calls unknown.
He drives a marked patrol car.
A police officer he is known.

He's paid by the citizens' taxes
To make it safe on the streets.
But he usually has a second job
'Cause a waitress has his salary beat.

Now he doesn't know a holiday
'Cause he works all year round.
And when Thanksgiving and Christmas finally arrive
At his home he cannot be found.

He's cursed and assaulted often,
The one whos blood runs blue.
He seldom ever gets a thanks,
To some he's just a fool.

His friends are always other cops
'Cause people just don't understand
That underneath his badge and gun,
He's just another man.

He knows there might not be a tomorrow
In this world of drugs and crime.
And he gets so mad at the court system
'Cause the crooks don't get any time.

And each day when he leaves for work,
He prays to God above.
Please bring me home after my shift
So I can see the ones I love.

But tonight he stops a speeding car,
He's alone down this ole' highway.
It's just a little traffic infraction.
He does it everyday.

Well, he walks up to the driver's window,
And his badge is shining bright.
He asked the guy for a driver's license,
When a shot rang through the night.

Yes, the bullet hit its mark,
Striking the officer in the chest.
But the Department's budget didn't buy
Each officer a bullet-proof vest.

So he lay on the ground bleeding.
His blood wasn't blue - His blood was red.
And briefly he thought of his loved ones
'Cause in a moment the officer was dead.

In the news they told the story
Of how this officer had died.
And some who listened cared less,
But those who loved him cried.

Well, they buried him in uniform
With his badge pinned on his chest.
He even had his revolver,
He died doing his best.

KB,

It has been 3 long years since you have passed from this earth and I think of you often. I especially remember the time when I was in a tight spot. You stepped up and helped me "a new guy". You had nothing to gain and lots to lose by doing so. I believe you did it because it was the right thing to do and you led by example. That selfless act has left a lasting impression on me that exists to this day.

I also remember the dinners at Momma Motts and the special talent you possessed in "busting chops" in a hilarious but benign way. It was obvious that your heart was always in the right place.

I was assigned to your spot in the juvenile bureau after your promotion to Sgt. and I inherited your call sign. Again you stepped up with advice for me and sent me on the right path.

The most painful memory is that of being with you on that fateful evening and the numbness that swept over me when we knew you were gone. You have left an indelible mark on the ACPD and all who knew and respected you that will never be forgotten. Rest in Peace until we meet again.

Dad,

This year we didn't make it to the memorial and I felt I had to do something in your honor. I miss you everyday. I wish I could get back the time we lost. I turned 30 on March 9th this year. The next day I lit a candle for you at St. Patrick's Cathedral. Its just so hard on me every year...
I know you're in a better place now. Playing a lovely game of golf on a breezy course and catching plenty of grouper ;oP I just want to be selfish sometimes and have you back. I'm babysitting 2 of your nine, yes NINE grandchildren right now. I swear they act like you!!! Your legacy lives in them and that gives me comfort. I miss you Dad and love you more than words can convey.

Dear Kenny,
I just returned home from the Cape Atlantic 200 Club Memorial Service and Breakfast, and of course your name was honored of the fallen list. I just want you to know that since our academy days together in 1977, I always had the utmost respect for you as a person and a police officer. It has been just over three years since you said goodbye to your family, friends and co-workers, but the memory of you will live in the hearts of so many for so long. Your unselfish service to others, has earned you a resting place in heaven where I know God is watching over you for eternity.
