Well it's that time of year again that you loved. You enjoyed getting out and deep frying a turkey, and we enjoyed you ccoking it because it was good. Which it didn't matter what you cooked it was always good. I wish every year that you was here to enjoy this time together. We miss you so much, Johnny and I was talking last night about how you would enjoy Landon (Mitch's) baby. He is such a mess. We enjoy him so much. Well I will go for now but remember I love you and miss you so much.

I met Wilbur in the mid 70's. The last time I saw him was in the summer of 2000. I was totally devastated when I saw the news of his passing. He was 1 of the finest men anyone could ever meet. I, along with many others miss him to this very day. When I think of him, I still shed tears. Wilbur, if there's any way you could know all this, just know, you were and are loved by many and always will be.

Your heroism and service is honored today, the eighth anniversary of your death. Your memory lives and you continue to inspire. Thank you for your service. My cherished son Larry Lasater was a fellow police officer who was murdered in the line of duty on April 24, 2005 while serving as a Pittsburg, CA police officer.

Time never diminishes respect. Your memory will always be honored and revered.

Rest In Peace.

Daddy, Here is another Christmas without you. You would think that it would get better every year but it seems to get harder. Well Mitch is a daddy ( and me a grandma) he is so precious his name is Landon Louis Crosby. He is my heart. Mitch is still going to OTC. Jeb is in the 9th grade and doing good. I just wanted to let you know that I miss you so much. I will never forget the good times and bad times that we had. The last week that you were here I am so glad that we got to spend a lot of time together. Johnny and I talk about that alot and are so glad that we did get to spend those last few days with you. It was as if you thought something was going to happen to you. A couple of years ago I did my Christmas Tree in honor of you. I think I will do it again next year, I do the badges, #8, pictures of you through the years and handcuffs. Everybody thought it was so special for me to do it like that and like I said I honored you in every way that I could. I know with being the only daughter ( with all those boys) that we had a special relationship together. I just wish that you was still here for that to go on. Well I better go for now, but remember I still love you and miss you

Daddy it's been seven years today and it seems just like yesterday that we lost you. I have heard nothing but good things from everyone about you and I know that they were all true. Even after seven years I still hear all the good things that you did to help the people in the community. It makes me feel good to hear these things. Your grandson is Graduating this year and he is going to College. I'm very proud of him.He is also going to be a daddy. Jeb is graduating from the 8th grade. Johnny and I are going to the grave today like we always do on this day, to tell you how much we miss you and love you. We have so many memories of us cooking out and going to the race track together, I just wish that we could still be doing all of these things together. I miss you so much Daddy. I lOVE yOU

This story is for my Uncle Wilbur I don't know where to start. He was a great man,he was just in the wrong place at the time.He was on his way home from work. He was a sgrt. in Bulloch County. He got a dispatch and he turned around to go help. When he got there he was shot and killed trying to stop a bad guy and help his fellow workers. It was the worst night of my life. i did alot of things with this man me and my daddy. We would all cut fire wood together, and we had a great time doing it.My husband Freddy Aldrich would also be with us. We never had so much fun. We also had alot of cookout's together with a fire going outside. It's times like that that make us realize how much we miss him. He would always call me Kimbob. Uncle Wilbur and my daddy Earl were best friends they were always together. Wilbur we all miss you so much, and have not forgotten the good times with you. We will also never forget that tragic night you were taking from us,but we will see you again one day and we will be smiling. We miss you and love you very much Uncle Wilbur.

"The Badge"
He starts his shift each day
To respond to calls unknown.
He drives a marked patrol car.
A police officer he is known.
He's paid by the citizens' taxes
To make it safe on the streets.
But he usually has a second job
'Cause a waitress has his salary beat.
Now he doesn't know a holiday
'Cause he works all year round.
And when Thanksgiving and Christmas finally arrive
At his home he cannot be found.
He's cursed and assaulted often,
The one whos blood runs blue.
He seldom ever gets a thanks,
To some he's just a fool.
His friends are always other cops
'Cause people just don't understand
That underneath his badge and gun,
He's just another man.
He knows there might not be a tomorrow
In this world of drugs and crime.
And he gets so mad at the court system
'Cause the crooks don't get any time.
And each day when he leaves for work,
He prays to God above.
Please bring me home after my shift
So I can see the ones I love.
But tonight he stops a speeding car,
He's alone down this ole' highway.
It's just a little traffic infraction.
He does it everyday.
Well, he walks up to the driver's window,
And his badge is shining bright.
He asked the guy for a driver's license,
When a shot rang through the night.
Yes, the bullet hit its mark,
Striking the officer in the chest.
But the Department's budget didn't buy
Each officer a bullet-proof vest.
So he lay on the ground bleeding.
His blood wasn't blue - His blood was red.
And briefly he thought of his loved ones
'Cause in a moment the officer was dead.
In the news they told the story
Of how this officer had died.
And some who listened cared less,
But those who loved him cried.
Well, they buried him in uniform
With his badge pinned on his chest.
He even had his revolver,
He died doing his best.

Sergeant Berry was more than a good cousin but I will always remember his smile and laughter. He will truly be missed. I only regret that I had not seen him since I joined Navy. He was truly a credit to the Sheriffs Dept. and the County.
