I am thankful everyday that I knew you and your family. I have reconnected with your sister, Kelly because of you. I want to Thank you for that, I have missed her all of these years. One of the girls I work with, her husband has finished the Academy and he saw your video everyday for 8 weeks and it almost made him quit. He stuck it out and has learned from you. You were very brave and did not die in vain. Keep my friend Tim safe, as he starts his journey as a Police officer.

Deputy Dinkheller,
I remember the first time I saw the video that showed the act of of a true hero who did what he had to do to protect the public from an individual who was a monster, not to mention a disgrace to the military and other vietnam vets who came back from that war and lived there lives as good citizens.
To the family of Deputy Dinkheller,
I am truly sorry you lost a husband, friend, and daddy. I go to work every day and every time I go to a call or make a traffic stop, I think of my wife and son before I exit the cruiser. Because of Kyle's sacrifice and the horrible video that came after I will be just a little more careful everyday of my career. God bless you Mrs. Dinkheller and your children, I hope they will always know that their daddy is a true hero to the rest of us..

My husband talks about his son Kyle daily and he misses him more than any words could express. He shows the training tape at Law Enforcement Facilities all over, this is his way of dealing with the fact that the man that murdered his son is still on death row.

THIS WAS THE MOST HORRIBLE THING I HAVE EVER KNOWN OF. HIS CHILDREN ARE THE ONES THAT SUFFER THE MOST. WHAT MOST DON'T KNOW IS THAT HIS WIFE FOUND OUT THE DAY OF HIS DEATH THAT SHE WAS EXPECTING THEIR SECOND CHILD. HE WAS A HERO.

To the wife and family of Kyle Dinkheller,

I realize that Kyle left you over eight years ago, so I apologize for the delay in this post. I've been a police officer for the past six years and just recently attended "Caliber Press' Street Survival" seminar. The seminar teaches officers how to be safe (as safe as possible) and to try to learn from other officer's traffic stops. The seminar is brought to police from all over the United States. The footage of Kyle's murder is something I will never forget. I didn't know Kyle, but from what I've seen in his reflections, he is missed by many. Please know that eight years later, Officers are still learning from Kyle's stop that nothing is ever "routine". Kyle's bravery and courage will never be forgotten. As the wife of a police officer, my heart goes out to Kyle's wife. Even knowing that your husband is a police officer could never prepare you for such a great loss. And as a mother of a 2 year old, I commend you for your strength in dealing with Kyle's death. May your children grow up knowing that their daddy was a hero and that his life will never be forgotten. And may Kyle's parents know that they raised a true hero. May God continue to give your family strength and the knowledge that Kyle's legacy carries on.
“Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called sons of God.” (Matthew 5:10)

Kyle:

I have dedicated a place for you and other officers on "my space" officer memorial page. I have tried contacting some of your family about this but could not find them. May God bless you and your family. Your courageous act will never be forgotten by your fellow law enforcement brothers and sisters...

Kyle,

Josh recently told me that your death is a training video. I am so sorry. I cannot tell you how sick that makes me feel and how much we all miss you. I hope that your awful experience continues to save lives of those in the line of duty. I cannot believe it has been 8 years already. Tell Dad I said hi and I love him. I love you. Always and forever.

Kyle,
This week I attended a S.T.O.P.S. class and your in-car video was shown. Your bravery and courage will never leave my heart and mind. I will NEVER "Monday Morning Quarterback" someone who has given their life doing what we love, but I've learned things from your video and after seeing it, I was brought back to reality in that no traffic stop is "routine" by any means. I pray for you and your family.

Kyle, I can't believe it has been 8 years. I joined the L.A. Co. Sheriff's Dep. and will graduate the academy on Nov. 3rd. I had to watch your video on the first day. I carry a picture of us with me and will for the rest of my career. You were a brave man. I am doing a presentation on you for my class to show the personal side, pictures of the kids, etc. to hopefully affect classmates more. Thank you for your service and for being a good brother-in-law. Until I see you again in heaven.

Kyle,

I saw your video several years ago when I was an explorer. It horrified me. I am so sorry for your loss and for the tragic outcome of this incident. I know you are in a better place and I thank God for fellow men such as yourself who live to protect others. No Law Enforcement death is in vain, especially not yours.

There's a special place for you in heaven brother. Take it. I'll see you there some day.
I promise you will never be forgotten.

Deputy Dinkheller - we recently watched your video and it was very shocking! I am currently a student in MN and just by hearing your voice during that stressful situation being so calm and cool is an inspiration to all future law enforcement officials. We will forever remember you and your service to your community! THANK YOU & GOD BLESS

I don't know how many times I have seen your video but every time I see it I am still filled with anger towards that POS. Your video serves as a grim reminder as to how quickly a traffic stop can turn bad. Thank you for your service and your memory. Thanks to your video many officers lives may be saved. Thank you for your service, you are not forgotten.

Kyle, I wanted to let you know that I think about you every time I conduct a traffic stop. Thanks to your brave efforts and video, you have probably saved thousands of fellow officers from getting killed or injured..., by watching you video and making them more aware for their own safety. I wish you family the very best in life. Take care

Kyle,
I think about you often. Every day, I send my husband off into the unknown and think of you. I had always wanted to ba an officer, I was in Criminal Justice at Ohio University when I first saw the video. All I wanted to do was go out and try to make a difference and carry on your duties. That is still all I want, but I'm not like you, I wasn't cut out. God speed, Kyle! You are sadly missed, even by those who never new you.

Although not yet out of college, I have the utmost respect for all police officers, and, despite the risks, hope to become one myself. I came across your video online, and I cannot begin to imagine what was going through your mind. The agony you must have been in is incomprehensible, and it fills me with sadness that you had to endure it. Your screams will haunt me for a long time. You are truly one of America's finest, and I give my condolences to your family.

At the time I began watching your video, I did not know how it would end. I have been accustomed to seeing training videos with happier endings. When there was no notation of the outcome, I searched your name through a search engine and found you here.
I can tell you that the worst day I ever had on the job was hearing, "Shots fired!" over the radio. It is our fear that some day, some how, no effort we make from our end will bring you home safely to us and your family.
Though there is no adequate consolation for your loved ones or you brothers and sisters in Law Enforcement, I am confident that you have found your place amongst the legions of heroes that have fallen before and after you.
Thank you for continuing to bring peace and safety to those who now follow in your footsteps. You may have very well brought one of my "guys" home safely and for that there is no gratitude great enough.
Our prayers are with you and yours.
