Officer Down Memorial Page

For Game Officer L. Seeley Houk:

The duties of the Game Protector brings him or her to encounter the demands of the angry land-owner who, like many, wish that the laws be enforced as they are personally viewed, and not as they exist and are officially written. The game officer regularly arrives alone and must face others who routinely are in the possession of knives and firearms. We regret that GO Houk would meet his demise at the hands of an irate person whom he was sent to legally serve and lawfully protect. It is a stinging betrayal from one who the game officer is sworn to serve.

We pray for GO Houk's family, friends and all who care about him. We hope that they remember him most as a noble law officer who died doing what he loved, and in service to others.

I am proud to render GO L. Seeley Houk a final salute.
