Officer William Horn was shot and killed after stopping a man carrying a concealed weapon. Officer Horn disarmed the suspect but a struggle ensued and the suspect regained control of the gun, fired five times, and killed Officer Horn. The suspect was later shot and apprehended.

The suspect was convicted of first degree murder and sentenced to death. He was awarded a new trial and was acquitted on March 23, 1929.

Officer Horn had been with the agency for 12 years.

I remember my father telling me the story of how you died and what happened to the scumbag who shot and killed you. He was tried and found guilty but on appeal the former proesecutor was now his defense lawyer and got the scumbag off. Rest in peace, grandpa.
