My deepest sympathy to the family of Officer Ramos and the NYPD family as a whole. It is a terrible thing that happened. The City of New York will never know the loss it has suffered today. To the members of the NYPD, be strong, and stay safe, your pain is felt by the entire law enforcement community

A MOMENT
from the Book “Stories of Faith and Courage from COPS on the Street”

Dear Heavenly Father,
It was only a moment,
but
In that moment a madman walked by
In that moment the world was changed.
In that moment countless Lives, were altered utterly.
In that moment our hearts began breaking.
Now in these moments we speak names previously unknown:
But now with reverence, we utter their names.
In a moment our Line of BLUE stretched out across the nation.
That hard, fast and steady Line of BLUE had been breached.
In these moments now help us as we have all become a part of the Line of BLUE.
Dry our tears, comfort our broken hearts, strengthen our weaken knees, cure our confusion.
May the Line of BLUE draw a circle around us pulling back our hope.
May the Line of BLUE be a shield before us.
May this Line of BLUE carry us into the moments of our future.
A future made sure by their sacrifice in a moment.
It was only a moment and they were gone but
the Line of BLUE and we go on…
AMEN!

In honor of the fallen.

RIP brother. People cannot conceive of the incredibly hard job we face now harder due to the large segment of cop-haters and race-baiters. Today is one of the lowers points in my 25 year career as a public servant.

The Final Inspection

The police officer stood and faced his God,
Which must always come to pass.
He hoped his shoes were shining.
Just as brightly as his brass.

"Step forward now, officer.
How shall I deal with you?
Have you always turned the other cheek?
To my church have you been true?"

The police officer squared his shoulders and said,
"No, Lord, I guess I ain't,
Because those of us who carry badges
can't always be a saint.

I've had to work most Sundays,
and at times my talk was rough,
and sometimes I've been violent,
Because the streets are awfully tough.

But I never took a penny,
That wasn't mine to keep....
Though I worked a lot of overtime
When the bills got just too steep.

And I never passed a cry for help,
Though at times I shook with fear.
And sometimes, God forgive me,
I've wept unmanly tears.

I know I don't deserve a place
Among the people here.
They never wanted me around
Except to calm their fear.

If you've a place for me here, Lord,
It needn't be so grand.
I never expected or had too much,
But if you don't.....I'll understand.

There was silence all around the throne
Where the saints had often trod.
As the police officer waited quietly,
For the judgement of his God.

"Step forward now, officer,
You've borne your burdens well.
Come walk a beat on Heaven's streets,
You've done your time in hell."

We offer our heartfelt sympathy to the family, friends and colleagues of Officer Ramos and we honor his distinguished service to the cause of justice and peace. Sadly, our nation has lost one of its finest citizens, a community has lost a friend and protector, and a family has lost an example of character and courage who they will love and respect forever.

To the family of Officer Ramos, I would like you to know that a lot of people pray for you, and my hope is that their prayers will give you strength and comfort during this difficult time. In the days to follow, may you be strengthened by the fact that Officer Ramos is a man distinguished by exceptional courage and will always be admired for his brave deeds and noble qualities. You, your family, and your sacrifice will never be forgotten.

It will be a very sad Christmas for all of the officers and staff of the New York City Police Department as two of its fellow officers have died in the line of duty. With Christmas being only five days away, you could imagine what the families and fellow officers will be going through without their fellow officers being around. It just won't be the same this Christmas as two of New York's finest have been gunned down by someone who does not like police officers.

To the family of Officer Ramos, especially his children,
My heart breaks for the loss of your father. I also lost my father at an early age and I know that the pain and loss is hard to understand and overcome. Please remember that your father is now with God and will watch over his family. He died trying to keep the streets of NY safe for children and for that, you should be proud of him forever.

Condolences from Australia. Police have one simple goal in their job, to keep us the public safe and secure. It is a tragedy more public don't realise this and fail to see society ripping itself apart.
