I will never forget the day I lost you from my shift. You were a hard working, loyal, genuinely kindhearted man. I will always miss our hunting conversations and seeing your smirk when I cracked a stupid rookie joke. Your determination and "go getter" attitude is what I enjoyed most of seeing you work. Each task assigned to you was surely accomplished by your own positive work ethic. I will always remember you,as my brother and my officer.

This is my shield,
I bear it before me in battle,
But it is not mine alone.
It protects my brother on my left.
It protects my State.
I will never let my brother out of its shadow,
Nor my State out of its shelter.
I will die
With my shield before me
Facing the enemy.

Godspeed brother.

I just found out today about your death and the death of Lt. Osvaldo Albarati Casana in MDC Guaynabo, PR. Two BOP deaths in 2 days I am so sad for your senseless deaths. May you rest in peace and may your families justice be swift.

I hope that The BOP finally wakes up and takes all of its officer & staffs lives into account and issues us all of the tools and proper staffing that we would need in order to defend ourselves and eachother.

I truly pray the BOP Administrators and Congress have enough wisdom to make the appropriate changes that are required to keep the Officers safe in the Housing Units. My Dad has been to the funerals of Scott Williams USP Lompoc and Jose Rivera USP Atwater, and very little has changed in the agency besides authorizing stab resistant vests. Some institutions allow quick response equipment but by the time it gets to the radio call its too late.
The Officers carry no deterrent besides their pride, professionalism and a radio with keys.
Please all who are reading make a stand for those unnamed Officers working the three shifts that they may be equipped appropriately. The old BOP thinking must change these are killers in GP, not tax offenders. The it's a business approach is over, unless the agency truely believes that operating Federal Prisons are an industrial complex.

Please provide protection for my Dad and his co workers, the agency must wake up and deter the inmates.

Son of a Correctional Supervisor.
