In the small State of Delaware we are an even smaller, close tight knit community of Police Officers. Our hearts our heavy this day as we mourn the loss of one of brothers, Sgt Joe Szczerba. Joe showed what all Police Officers know in their hearts, that we are willing to face fear that no one else will and will answer the ultimate call to service. Joe will be missed and our thoughts and prayers are with Joe's family, as well as with his family in brown, our brothers and sisters in the New Castle County Police Department. The Thin Blue Line.

Joe, You were a true gentelman and will be missed greatly. The citizens of Delaware lost a "good man" and a true hero. I was a year ahead of Joe, At Salesianum School, and West Chester University, and he always greeted me with a kind word and quite smile. We had good times at "Sallies" and in college, Joe will always be in my thoughts. Your were a "class act" and quitely did your job, without asking for anything extra. Joe Exemplified what it was to be a Police Officer.

God Bless!!

Sincere sympathy to the family of this fallen police officer. Having a Dad who is a retired police officer, I grew up knowing everytime he went on duty, he might not come home. My prayers go to this officers family.

Joe was one of my best childhood friends and a co-best man in my wedding. We had so much fun growing up and hanging out during the high school and college years. My condolences go out to his wife, mother, brothers and sisters as well as his fellow officers and everyone else that was blessed to have known him. RIP JOE!!
