18 years on and not one sign of slowing down. Always eager to get involved in any investigation, and always preaching (and practicing) proactivity. I couldn't have imagined a better Sgt, teacher, or role model for my rookie time. A truly devastating loss. Thank you for everything you have given to me.

My sincerest condolences to the family of Sergeant Szczerba's family. It's always so sad to hear of a fallen officer no matter what their rank. They are each and every one equally important. I didn't know Sergeant Szczerba's family, but even volunteering for the KSP I have come to the highest level of respect for ALL of those officers who serve our communities, hoping daily to come home to their family. Condolences, from Jackie Carter, in Kentucky.
