My condolences to the family and friends of Deputy Hotsipiller. Although only on the job only a short time, he already had the reputation of a hard worker and a go getter. It was a profoundly sad day for us here at the Training Academy as he had just been with us recently. I lost a brother-in-law under similar circumstances and I know how much it hurts. May peace be with you.

Derek Hotsinpiller was wonderful brother and son. He always wanted to follow in his father's footsteps in criminal justice. I remember talking to his mother (Pam) as she was going to his graduation and Derek being stationed in the Clarksburg area. He was devoted to his job and will be truly missed. We have truly lost a remarkable U.S. Marshall. May you rest in peace Derek and to know you are with your Dad in heaven. The Payez Family
