"No greater love has a man than to lay down his life for his friends." Lenoir County lost a friend on April 7 as he gave his life for those he had vowed to protect and serve even if it cost him his life. Detective Pearson you have made the ultimate sacrifice. To your family my prayer will be that someday you will find peace and comfort that Allen did not die in vain. Thank you as his family for allowing him to do what he did in service to his fellow man. May God richly bless you in these days and years to come.

I feel so blessed to have had the opportunity to meet Allen. Allen and I attended a class together in December and he was definitely the "class clown"! Allen was always making everyone smile. I could see the passion he had for his job and his happiness was always shining through. Allen you will be missed and your sacrifice will never be forgotten. My thoughts and prayers are with Allen's family and friends and also to the Lenoir County Sheriff's Dept. The Durham Police Dept knows all too well the pain of losing one of its own (Charles Callemyn 2/17/07). May peace be with you Allen.

"THE FINAL INSPECTION" --

The policeman stood and faced God, Which must always come to pass. He hoped his shoes were shining, Just as brightly as his brass. "Step forward now, policeman. How shall I deal with you? Have you always turned the other cheek? To my church have you been true?" The policeman squared his shoulders and said, "No lord, I guess I ain't, Because those of us who carry badges can't always be a saint." I've had to work most Sundays, and at times my talk was rough, and sometimes I've been violent, Because the streets are awfully tough. But I never took a penny, That wasn't mine to keep Though I worked a lot of overtime When the bills got just too steep. And I never passed a cry for help, Though at time I shook with fear. And sometimes, God forgive me, I've wept unmanly tears. I know I don't deserve a place Among the people here. They never wanted me around Except to calm their fear. If you've a place for me here, Lord, It needn't be so grand. I never expected or had too much, But if you don't I'll understand. There was a silence all around the throne Where the saints had often trod. As the policeman waited quietly, For the judgement of his god. "Step forward now, policeman, You've born your burdens well. Come walk a beat on Heaven's streets, You've done your time in hell.

A KNIGHT HAS FALLEN
AND I DON'T KNOW WHY
THAT THE YOUNG AND THE COURAGEOUS
SOMETIMES DIE.

WE WILL MISS THIS PROTECTOR
AND GUARDIAN OF LIFE
FOR SOMETIMES THESE THINGS BRING
THE GREATEST OF STRIFE.

MORNING IS BREAKING
AND GOD HAS OPENED HIS GATES.
THE SUN IS RISING,
IT WILL NO LONGER WAIT.

BUT I KNOW IN MY HEART
AS TIME PASSES BY
THAT WE WILL REMEMBER THIS KNIGHT
WHEN WE SEE THE SPRING SKIES.

Allen, Craig always spoke highly of you and knew how much you loved following in your dad's footsteps. You were much you young to leave this world, especially in such a tragedy. But you died a hero, doing what you loved most.

God Bless You Catherine and may God Be With You and Joy and Ricky over each day you face without him.

You are in our prayers. Try to take peace in the fact that God only cries for the living and Allen wouldn't come back even if he could. He's in a much better place.

You were loved by so many. I thank God for not only being your cousin, but being able to call you a friend, too. I am grateful for the time that we were able to spend together riding to NLHS and cutting up at the family reunions. Thank you for protecting us! You will always be in my heart and memories. May God carry your family through this time.
