I send my heartfelt condolences to the family and fellow officers of Detective Pearson. This is such a horrible ending to a great career serving his fellow citizens. There is nothing more honorable than serving your fellow man, and like many others before him, Detective Pearson performed the ultimate sacrifice in defense of the rights of others. God bless you, Detective Pearson. We have the watch.

It is with a heavy heart that I leave this reflection to honor the memory and the service that this fine man did for the citizens of Lenoir County. I am proud to say that I knew "Little Allen Pearson" and I personally thank him for the assistance that he has provided me throughout the past year while we helped each other investigate cases in our neighboring counties. To the Pearson family and the Lenoir County Sheriff's Office I pray that God will bless you all through this difficult time in your lives. Words can't express how sorry that I am for your loss.
