Leave a Reflection

Reflections for Deputy Sheriff Sarah Irene Haylett-Jones

Sarah,

When I woke up this morning, I thought that this had all been a nightmare. This all still seems surreal to me and I can not believe you are no longer with us. You fought the good fight, Sarah, but I know you are looking down on us from the streets of heaven. Watch over us and protect us from above.

As hard as it will be, we will get through these troubling times down here knowing that we will see you again someday. Chris and your parents are staying strong and we will make sure they are taken care of. Although your tour has ended, we will take it from here and continue where you left off.

Love ya'
Eric

I was at the hospital with my son the night that Deputy Jones was struck and brought into the hospital. The outpour of concern by hospital staff and other officers was overwhelming. The lobby was filled with officers and , as they air-lifted Deputy Jones from the pad, nurses came outside to watch. Although I did not know her, you could tell that she was a special woman. My heatfelt condolences to Sarah's husband and family and friends.

I am still in shock about your death. I thought about the "long days" at the police academy. I have thought about your smiling face and that "strange accent". My prayers are with your family in this time of loss and to let everyone know you served your profession well. I have missed having you around to swap "stories" and will miss you. GOD BLESS YOU, Haylett (Jones)!
