When I see a beautiful (male or female)officer, young in age and experience, I ask why? But then I think back to the mid-1960's and I know the answer - it is because there is someone who loves his/her job and knows that the day might come..... Our heartfelt condolences to the Department, the husband and family. We will be praying for your strength to endure this tragedy. Gordon Hochmeister

Sarah,

I never knew you, but I know many of the deputies you worked with on seconds, and I know a lot of the guys your husband Chris works with at NSA Crane Fire Dept. My wife and I are also freinds of your neighbors who attend St. Paul UMC. Our church congregation was in prayer for you on Sunday morning and ironically sirens were wailing from a squad passing by the church. Everyone at MCSD is grieving right now, they are all taking it very hard, as well as the rest of the community. Your family and everyone at the Sheriff's Department is in our thoughts and prayers. I know you were not originally from Bloomington, and I don't know if you will be buried here, but you will always be a part of our community. Thank you for serving the citizens of Monroe County. God bless you.

To the Family of Officer Jones:

My husband & I are so extremely sorry for the loss of Sarah. While we did not know her, we understand the grief that you are feeling at this time. Our brother, Officer Denzinger - E.O.W. 6/18/07, from the Floyd Co. Police Dept., tragically died 16 mos. ago. Although he is no longer with us, he is in our thoughts everyday. We hope you can find comfort in knowing that Sarah will be with you everyday, as well, continuing her watch over you and her loved ones. Please know you are in our thoughts and prayers. May God wrap his loving arms around you during this sorrowful time, and bring you peace and understanding with this tragic turn of events in your life. We are truly sorry for your loss.

I had the distinct pleasure to work with Sarah while she was employed with the Montgomery Police Department. I have never met anyone who was more eager to learn the profession than Sarah. I considered her a very close friend and she will forever be missed.

Sarah,

I received the message that you had been injured on Saturday afternoon, and immediately my heart sank. I received the rest of my information from the internet. It seems like just the other day that you and Chris were at my house for a cookout/party.

From the time that I was able to spend with you, it was obvious that you were motivated and dedicated to following your dreams - being with Chris and working in law enforcement. I thank you for your service to the country, serving both military and law enforcement.

I have Chris, and the rest of your family, in my thoughts and prayers.
