Rest in peace brother.

A Part Of Our Country Has Died

Somebody killed a policeman today
And a part of our country has died...
A piece of our country he swore to protect
Will be buried with him at his side.
The beat that he walked was a battlefield, too,
Just as if he had gone off to war;
Though the flag of our nation won't fly at half-mast
To his name they will add a gold star.
The suspect that shot him will stand up in court
With counsel demanding his rights,
While a young widowed mother must work for her kids
And spend many long, lonely nights.
Yes, somebody killed a policeman today...
Maybe in your town or mine,
While we slept in comfort behind our locked doors
A cop put his life on the line.
Now his ghost walks the beat on a dark city street,
And he stands at each new rookie's side;
He answered the call... of himself gave his all,
And a part of our country has died...

He did what he had do.

It was his calling not just another man in blue.
He wen to work as any other day, praying to come home for just one more day.

Many would ask why he did the job he did. He would he would say maybe this could be the day when I get
To help someone.

He knows just as soon as he turns his back you will have something to say.
Shouldn’t he be at the donut shop, or doing something but driving in his car all day.

He will sit down for lunch trying to sort out paperwork from his last arrest.
But before he gets to eat, someone has a question about the arrest of a friend of a friend.

I pay his taxes for him not to do any thing but drive all day. Why can’t you do your job?
Don’t you have something else to do other than write me a ticket.

But as soon as he does write the ticket he gets a cell phone call “That ticket was to was my third cousin, is there anything you can do?

The alert tone rings out from the cruiser you know it’s not a good sound it’s a ROBBERY, SHOOTING, OR OFFICER NEEDS BACK UP NOW.

It’s time to put on my game face hiding the fear of the truly unknown.

Is this truly my last call? Who’s going to say my say good bye?

If by chance you can, just remember you’re my world. Good by and I love you too.
