Courtney,
I know that I only knew you for a few months, but I knew about you way before I met you. I always would hear Rodney, Teara and Nick talk about you and how funny of a person you were and how much you would help out with different things that were going on. I knew that before I met you, you were a special person to my cousins and to Nick. I remember you joking with me everytime you saw me, calling me every name but mine(Monica, Jessica, Kim, Samantha, etc)..all out of good fun. After you would do that, you would give me a hug to ensure me that everything was cool between us. The last time I saw you was at your house watching the Raven's and Colt's game and eating at the table with my little buddy, your son. The bet was on for the Polar Bear Plunge challenge..but in your honor Nick, Rodney and your fiance, along with other MDTA officers, will be participating in that for you.
I remember being there the night of the accident..from Nick's house, where we were all celebrating the new year to 30 mins later at the hospital where we were all crying. At that time, it felt like I had known you for so long and the loss greatly impacted me. As close as you, Nick and Rodney were, I felt like I lost someone in my family. Feelings from denial, numbness to anger to depression and finally acceptance have all been gone through many times. Now it is time for us to remember all of the funny, helpful and insightful moments that you have left. We have been doing that...not a day goes by without a mention of you.
I have continuously prayed for your fiance, the kids, your entire family, friends, Nick, Rodney and co-workers. I know that God had a plan for you that none of us would be able to even comprehend. I know that you are with Him now and that is where we all plan to see you again. I definetly know that you are watching down over all of us, especially your kids and your fiance. You have served your time and gave your all with everything that you did. May you rest in peace.
You will be deeply missed!

I knew a man
Most never knew his name
But a hero was he
Left a boy, came back a man
Still many just don't understand
About the reasons we are free

I can't forget the look in his eyes
Or the tears he cries
All that he had done

All gave some and some gave all
Some stood through for the red, white and blue
Some had to fall,if you ever think of me
Just remember that Some gave all

Now I am no longer here
But his words are oh so clear
As they echo through out our land
For all his friends who gave us all
Who stood the ground and took the fall
To help their fellow man

Love your country and live with pride
And don't forget those who died for us

All gave some and some gave all
And some stood through for the red, white and blue
And some had to fall
And if you ever think of me
Think of all your liberties and recall
Some gave all

SOME GAVE ALL

Courtney,
I am still having trouble believing your not here. I only knew you for a short time, but during that time i came to respect you as a coworker and the had the honor to call you a friend. Your humor and practical jokes will be sorely missed. You were the type of person i think we all strive to be and one heck of a Police Officer. I will never forget the sacrifice you made. Until we meet again my friend to man a post in heaven.

I remember meeting Courney, Susan and their dog one day in 2007, shortly after they moved to our neighborhood. I often saw Courtney out working in the yard, planting bushes, and doing other landscaping work. I am very saddened for his fiancee and children; it's unfortunate that such awful things happen in the world.

I did'n know this first responder but do live in Marriottsville, Maryland and can say that I will continue to keep you, your family and your fellow brothers and sisters in the department in my prayers. I will NEVER get over the pure honor it was to see a patrol unit in the drive 24/7 with an officer switching every shift just to be there for the family. That is the most honorable thing I have ever seen. If the family needs anything I am only 4 houses up and I do mean anything, my family is here for you as are the other neighbors.
Rest in Peace Courtney, Don't worry Gods taking care of things, Rest!
