“REMEMBER ME”
Law enforcement officers are, indeed, a special breed of people. Ask anyone on the street and they will tell you that they would not have our jobs for anything in the world. It takes something special to do what we do and at the same time be able to even contemplate retirement. We try to be optimists. Unfortunately, there are a few of us who will never make that date with retirement. By the very nature of our job, we are at risk everyday of losing our lives, either at the hand of some deranged individual or in some other situation that we, by virtue of our occupation, may be unable to avoid. Some people have recognized the hazardous duties we involve ourselves in, the risks we take, and the pride we take in accomplishing that job. There is National Law Enforcement Week, dedicated to us who gladly accept the responsibility of protecting the citizens in our respective jurisdictions. National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial Day is dedicated to those who gave their lives in the line of duty. These are but two examples of remembrances specifically for law enforcement personnel. Remembrances that come but once a year. We should remind fellow officers of another type of remembrance, one that will last a lifetime. Sooner or later, a doctor will pronounce us dead. It is inevitable. Regardless of whatever happens, death is the end we will all have to face.

We offer our heartfelt sympathy to the family, friends and colleagues of Officer Erfle and we honor his distinguished service to the cause of justice and peace. Sadly, our nation has lost one of its finest citizens, a community has lost a friend and protector, and a family has lost an example of character and courage who they will love and respect forever. Today, because of the sacrifice Officer Erfle has made, the house of freedom is stronger, sturdier, and more secure.

To the family, friends, and colleagues of Officer Erfle, I would like you to know that a lot of people pray for you, and my hope is that their prayers will give you the strength necessary to move on. Just as you were always with him when he walked the beat or patrolled the streets, know that he will always be with you - wherever you may be. In the days to follow, may you be strengthened by the fact that Officer Erfle is a man distinguished by exceptional courage and will always be admired for his brave deeds and noble qualities. You, your family and your sacrifice will never be forgotten.

What a horrible tragedy. The only solace I can take is the fact that your fellow officers were able to avenge your murder. May your family, friends, anc co-workers know that you will FOREVER be a hero and will NEVER be forgotten! So pal, until one day in Heaven we meet, keep walking your beat on the Golden Street watching over the thin blue line.

I woke up to the call that you had been shot this morning. Not long after I got another call that you were gone. Its unbelievable that it all happened so fast. I remember always struggling to remember how to say your last name, and wondering if I was saying it right. I'll miss seeing you around the station. God bless. My prayers are with you and your family as we all try to heal together.

As a Mother of a fallen officer, my heart breaks to hear of yet another tragic loss of a heroic young man. My heart goes out to his family, who are suffering through this painful loss. I am grateful for Arizona Concerns of Police Survivors (AZ C.O.P.S.) who helped me through my loss, and who to this day offer support and a life line to all survivors of a line of duty death.
Nick I know will be remembered for his service to the residents of Phoenix, but he will mostly be remembered as a loving husband and father. I pray you will find comfort and strength in the knowledge that there are many like you who have also suffered a similar loss, and whose prayers are being offered in your behalf.
