This incident reminds me of the pain we in Birmingham felt when on June 17, 2004 three of our fellow officer were murdered. I pray the third officer survives and no department has to endure losing three officers at a time ever again. God bless all involved in this tragedy.

Cpl. Jones, God called you to duty to protect our city and the citizens, God enabled you to give your best with not a thought of glory or of fame. From day one God had a plan for You to help us with your loving care while you worked to save the lives and property of all people young and old. God made you the terror of burglers, the friend of children and law-abiding citizens, kind to strangers, polite to bores, strict to law-breakers and impervious to temptation. On 09/08/2007, God called upon you to lay down your night stick, enrolled you into his heavenly force, where you will be as proud to guard the throne of God as you have been to guard the citizens of Odessa, Texas. God please comfort and protect Cpl. Jones's wife, family, friends, and his family in blue. Cpl. Jones will be dearly missed but not forgotten.

Husband, Father, Grandfather, Dedicated Police Officer!

Arlie Jones was an extended family member of mine. Dedicated Husband, Father and Grandfather to MY Grandchildren. A soft spoken man, gentle and caring to his family and all that crossed his path. Our lives are forever changed for having him here with us. Arlie was not only taken from his family but from the citizens of Odessa.
I am sending this web site address to my family so that they can also read the love that comes from the Law Enforcement Community all over the United States. I think that his wife and family will find much comfort in your words! GOD BLESS ALL OF YOU
