Arlie went to work for the Odessa Police Department the same year I went to work for Midland Police Department, twenty miles away. In the 90's I worked many narcotics cases with Arlie and had the fortunate opportunity to see his true character. Arlie had a deeply caring and kind heart. While I, as I know his family and friends struggle to understand this, it has come to mind that maybe that is why God called him home at this time.

A life lived in service to others is a living sacrifice to the Lord and to His creation. No matter how short, nor how tragic, a life such as that lived by Officer Jones, devoted to the protection of others and the suppression of evil, is a life well-spent. We appreciate his service and trust that healing will begin for his heart-broken loved ones. Go rest high on that mountain Officer Jones.
