Family, Friends & Fellow Officers Remember...

Another one of our brothers has fallen, and he along with other fallen officers was picked up by God and given eternal life. For all of those who had the honor of meeting him will always remember him.

Therefore he lives on.

To the family of officer McCoy my son has work side by side with Jeff and has touched my sons heart. Jeff would respond to a call from my son for a shoplifter and he would do his job and GOD'S job too. His ministries to people was awesome and I myself want to Thank him and his family for being a True Servant for the APD and for GOD.

Jeff, you were never short on words. I remember several times being in WalMart just for a quick trip and my kids and I would run into you and we would visit for several minutes. I will cherish these memories and the witnessing we both shared of God's Amazing Grace.

We all wonder what type of Legacy we will leave behind when we are taken home to our Father in Heaven. Jeff your legacy is amazing and we all were blessed in being your friend, your brother in blue and a part of your family through Christ our Lord. Your love for Sandy and Ella is a symbol of the unconditional love that God asks of each of us to give to one another. Your are God's fruit of the spirit and you will be with us always in all of our Fourth Days. DeColores!

Jeff,

Throughout the years that we knew each other you were always there. You were a good friend and I will miss you. I know you are in a better place and you are reaping the rewards of your toils. I know you will always be watching our backs as we continue to patrol the streets. The love you had for God, your wife, your daughter and APD family is an inspiration to many. I was raised in Abilene and my father was on the APD until his death in 1979. My mother retired from the Taylor County Sheriff's Department. I feel a very close bond with the officers of both organizations and I am truly sadden by Officer McCoy's untimely death. God bless his family and may he ease their terrible burden.

Jeff was there to help us load up our moving truck as were leaving Abilene, about 3 weeks ago. He was always helping others, and cared for them.
He had just finished a weekend of witnessing in the prison system, and was all excited about his experience. he had been paired up with an inmate that had hated cops. Jeff was able to love the man for who he had become, the inmate had nothing to give him, so he drew a picture for Jeff. Jeff then shared the picture with his fellow officers.

I was just getting to know Jeff, but in that short time I could see his love for the Lord. He is now praising our Wonderful Lord and Savior for eternity! I praise God for all of the lives that Jeff touched during his time here on Earth! I know that he was so happy to hear those words, "Well done my good and faithfull servant". I'm just so sad reading all these reflections from the people that knew Jeff best. It seems to me that the Lord needs more faithful followers like Jeff and it's hard
to understand why he was taken. I know the Lord says He is the Father to the Fatherless, but how I wish he could still be here to raise his daughter. That relationship is so important!! I'm so impressed with the kind of person Jeff is and the impact he had. What a void he has left. What an example he was to all who experienced his genuineness. We can trust the Lord to use this tragedy to reach others that may not come to know Jesus any other way. There is such a strong bond between police brothers, but nothing compared to the bond between brothers in Christ. That is a bond that not even death can separate. My thoughts are with all who loved Jeff and will never forget him. Well done, good and faithful servant. I didn't know you in this life, but I look forward to meeting you in the next.

I never met Jeff but because he and my husband wear the badge made us family. I went to Jeff and Sandy's home the night Jeff was killed and she knew then that God had bigger plans for Jeff. Her strength amazed me. I was awestruck by all of the love and support and the many brothers in blue that consoled Sandy the night Jeff left this world.
Officer's have such a dangerous job. Even the simplest of traffic stops can end in tragedy. Jeff prayed before he went on his calls. His faith was awesome.
I will continue to pray for the McCoy family and for all of the Officer's that are on the streets every day. To all of the Officer's that work with my husband: thank you for looking out for him and for being ready to lay down your lives for him.

I found this page when my brother-in-law, Andrew Esparza, was killed in the line of duty in Irving, Texas on 4.13.07. He too, was killed in an auto accident while serving the community on patrol. There are no words that truly help in what you are going through. God gives us the strength to take things day by day. Please know that your family is in our prayers during your time of need. He has joined another great officer in heaven above, to help watch over us as we proceed in our daily lives. God speed!

Family, Friends and Co-Workers,
My heart was so broken when I learned of your loss. Even though I do not have a personal relationship with all from this department, I do know a few. I know how heavy your hearts are and I know the storm that each of you is going through.
I am originally from the Abilene area and have wonderful memories of my life there. It was there that I was born, raised, married and birthed our first child. Life experiences took us to many new places. Our journey brought us to a new city and it was there that I went through my own loss. My family was hurled into the darkest storm of our lives. Through it all we learned to lean on each other as well as those in his department. But most importantly, we trusted in our Lord to carry us through. Through the darkest nights turned into the sweetest mornings. I can't tell you when that time will come for you, for any of you, but as time comes, you will find a smile, a joy again that you never thought would come.
My family has prayed for you many times already and as you come to mind, you will be prayed for again. Those are not empty words, they are real promises.
Walking through this journey together, remember you are never alone.....

Jeff, my friend and brother. I have enjoyed and will cherish the times we spent together, whether it was on or off-duty. As a father of daughters, I know how much you love Ella and your desire to spend as much time with her as possible being her dad, father, & best friend. Believe me, it will not be forgotten! I know how much you loved Sandy too! You did'nt have to say it, you could see it!

Unfortunatley, myself and a few others were unable to pay our last respects to you the day of your eulogy & funeral. "Duty Called", due to another tragedy in our city that you & I swore to "Serve and Protect". I know while I was working the crime scene, you were right there with me, assisting, as you have done before. Once again, we did it right! Thanks Jeff!
