Reflections for Corporal Nick Samuel Polizzotto

To the family, fellow officers, and friends of Corporal Polizzotto.
Please except my deepest sympathy for your loss. It is all too often that we hear about one of our finest making the ultimate sacrifice to protect the people they love and citizens that they protect.
There are always those of us that, throughuot the next several weeks and months, will think of all the "what ifs" that we can. Try instead to find better thoughts to remember him by, keep him close to your heart and in your thoughts and prayers. Remembering him as one of South Bends Finest Police Officers to walk the beat.
Corporal Nick S. Polizotto, we bow to you and bestow you with highest honors. God rest your soul.

Nick,

We stopped by and visted your memorial today. Your going to be missed dearly. When we were there, there were a few of your fellow officers there as well. And the looks on their faces were of pure sadness and loss. I am just so sorry that you were so stripped of your life. It's hard to fathom that we will begin our goodbye's tommorow. But I do know that Scott is going to take good care of you. Rest in peace Blue Angel. We love and miss you so very much.

To the family and loved ones of Corporal Nick S. Polizzotto and his fellow officers with the South Bend Police Department:

On behalf of our family, I want to extend our sincerest condolences on the grievous loss you suffered when Officer Polizzotto was murdered in the line of duty. His valor and dedication will never be forgotten.

In reading the loving reflections, it is obvious that Nick was an amazing young man who touched many lives in a positive way. I can see that he is so loved and will be missed by so many.

The circumstances of his death were heartbreaking and I know caused much anquish for all those affected. To his parents, I share your agony in losing a cherished child and know that the lives of everyone who called Nick beloved have been forever changed. To his son, I pray that you find comfort in your faith, your family and friends as you struggle with this devastating loss. May you be embraced by your law enforcement family and other police survivors who share this journey with you. Know that your father was and forever will be a hero.

May Nick's spirit continue to soar and his memory continue to inspire. May God hold Nick, his son and his other family members in the warmest part of his heart and the most gentle part of his soul. Heaven has another hero today.

Our family lost our cherished Larry when he was ambushed and fatally shot during a foot pursuit of two robbery suspects on April 23, 2005. Our family was supported and comforted by the brotherhood and sisterhood of law enforcement, and that wonderful community will be there for you. Nothing takes away the pain of your loss, but the comfort of the law enforcement community will help you endure what will seem at times unendurable.

Our family is also praying gor the physical and emotional reovery of the wounded officer who was with Nick.

This reflection is sent with the utmost respect for the distinquished service Nick gave to his community and the citizens of Indiana, and for the supreme sacrifice he and his family made on April 24. 2007.

To the Polizzotto Family and the extended family at the South Bend Police Deparment,

I wanted to express my heart felt sympothies for your loss. For when we loss a fellow brother in blue it is not only felt by his family and his department, but it is felt by the law enforcement community as a whole.

We recently loss a Lieutenant here at our department as a result of a drunk driver. His loss has left a void here, as I am sure that everyone there is feeling.

I wanted to say that in time the loss and the emptiness that you feel now will get easier with time. That is not to say that we forget about them, but rather the emptiness is filled with the warm and fond memoires.

This was left on the hood of the Lieutenant's patrol vehicle.

....And as we lay down our nightsticks, Enroll us in your Heavenly force, where we will be proud to Guard the Throne of God as we have been to guard the city of man!

Rest in Peace Cpl. Polizzitto, We'll take it from here.

I didn't know Nick - but I had Mr Polizzotto at Clay HS. I also worked with Tony @ MPCC long time ago. I am so sorry to your family - this is such a hard time. I have family members that are also police officers. When something like this happens we all need to remember how short life really can be. SBPD has lost another officer and this shouldn't be happening!!!

To Joe - never be made that your Dad is not with you - it will be hard... To be a police officer takes a very special person and not everyone can be one. He will be your angel and watch over you.

Nick - thank you for being you and watching over all of us. Good Bless You!!

Dear Lord,
Creator of the world,
Help us to love one another;
Help us to care for one another
As sister or as brother.

May friendship grow
From nation to nation.
Bring PEACE to our world,
Dear Lord of Creation.

My sympathies to the Polizzotto family, and the entire police family, near and far. Nick will be missed so very much, but let us all find comfort in knowing that he is in a better place, watching over us all with that unforgettable smile of his.
