To OUR FALLEN BROTHER, his family, friends, and co-workers, I just wanted to express my deepest and sincerest condolences. Unfortunately, all of us in the Law Enforcement Community have experienced, far TOO many times, the loss of a fellow brother or sister officer. IT NEVER GETS EASY!!... But it does help to know that his next Tour of Duty will be patrolling the heavenly gates of Our Lord.. and to serve and protect the rest of us who are still on post! GOD BLESS YOU, YOUR FAMILY, FRIENDS, and CO-WORKERS!
(As we mourn his sacrifice, let us not forget the many others, both in our L.E.O. Community and our Armed Forces, that have made the ULTIMATE SACRIFICE--MAY THEY ALL REST IN PEACE!!! THEY WILL NEVER BE FORGOTTEN!!)

St. Michael the Archangel, defend us in battle. Be our defense against the wickedness and snares of the Devil. May God rebuke him, we humbly pray, and do thou, O Prince of the heavenly hosts, by the power of God, thrust into hell Satan, and all the evil spirits, who prowl about the world seeking the ruin of souls.

Amen

To the family, officers and the South Bend Community I would like to offer my deepest condolences. Corporal Nick Polizzotto was a fine officer who represented the best of the South Bend Police Dept. and the community at large. He truly exemplified a life well lived in service to others. As time goes on, I wish for you only the happy memories and keeping in mind the high honor in which he will always be held.

Nick,
I can still hear your deep voice on the other end of my cell phone, saying hey baby. You were one in a million and I wish our timing would have been better each time, I know that you always knew how I felt about you and us.

When I heard you on the other end of the phone just weeks ago, my heart skipped a beat and a huge smile came to my face. I was so looking forward to our lunch plans and something like old times.

I wanted to tell you that Joe has turned into such a handsome young man, I remember when he was just a little boy and just so adorable and sweet.

I will forever miss your smile and all of the silly, ridiculous and wonderful memories that we shared together. You will always be the only one that I want to take home at "closing time" :-)

P.S. Don't worry I will always keep my "Secret Smile" just for you as I know you always did for me.

I want to express my deepest sympathies for the family of Corporal Nick Polizzotto. I was never lucky enough to meet him, but from what I have heard of him and his family, he was a great person. Anyone who had to choose between serving God as a priest or serving the community of South Bend, I am glad he chose the community.

He will be missed by his fellow police officers here in South Bend, but will be with his fallen heroes with God. Rest assured you will see him again; with his big heart and that sly little grin, he is watching and waiting for us all.

God Speed Nick. Rest in peace.

I'm a St. Joseph County Police Officer for the past 17 years and I worked with Officer Polizzotto at St. Joseph Regional Medical Center. I know Nick was a great police officer and he would doing anything to help a brother officer. My prayers go out to the Polizzotto's family and all the South Bend Police Officers at this time of crisis. I sit down and looked at yesterday's tribune and seen Nick's 8yrs old son and I thought about my kids and wife. AS a brother officer I wish there was more I could do except offer my condolences and prayers. I know Nick is with our Lord in Heaven. Nick is standing tall with his shoulders squared and his uniform pressed with his shoes shinning facing our Lord GOD. Nick will admit he made some mistakes and isn't no saint, but He walked our tough streets as our hero,so in final judgement we all know God will ask Nick to step forward and walk the streets of Heaven with our fellow brother officers becuase he, Nick, did his time ptotecting our community well. God Bless you all!!!!

"It is not how this officer died that made him a hero, but rather how he lived"....this is a perfect quote for Nick...he was such a terrific person and that is what made him such a great policeman...he will be missed by all of us that knew him and I would like to extend our family's deepest sympathy to the Polizzotto family. Your son, brother, father was a true hero EVERY day...may God bless all of you and RIP Nick...you deserve it

I did not know Corporal Polizzotto personally but I do know his brother Tony. The sacrifice and danger that our police officers face is becomes all too real when an officer dies. After an officer dies, the community comes together and is reminded of the ultimate sacrifice that an officer makes. The things that they see on a daily basis,we cannot even imagine. They are underpaid, and often under appreciated.Corporal Polizzotto you are truly one our finest and this city will miss you and it is my prayer that you rest in peace.God bless your family. Their comfort lies in the years of memories of you and what your life stood for.God help all of your fellow officers and their families and may they be protected from harms way.

I found this on another's officer's reflection... I hope it gives comfort to those of us who are on this side of life. Nick has a lot of good company up there.

"To my dearest family, some things I'd like to say...
but first of all, to let you know, that I arrived okay.
I'm writing this from heaven. Here I dwell with God above.
Here, there's no more tears of sadness; here is just eternal love.

Please do not be unhappy just because I'm out of sight.
Remember that I'm with you every morning, noon and night.
That day I had to leave you when my life on earth was through,
God picked me up and hugged me and He said, "I welcome you."

It's good to have you back again; you were missed while you were gone.
As for your dearest family, they'll be here later on.
I need you here badly; you're part of my plan.
There's so much that we have to do, to help our mortal man."

God gave me a list of things, that he wished for me to do.
And foremost on the list, was to watch and care for you.
And when you lie in bed at night, the day's chores put to flight.
God and I are closest to you....in the middle of the night.

When you think of my life on earth, and all those loving years
because you are only human, they are bound to bring you tears.
But do not be afraid to cry; it does relieve the pain.
Remember there would be no flowers, unless there was some rain.

I wish that I could tell you all that God has planned.
But if I were to tell you, you wouldn't understand.
But one thing is for certain, though my life on earth is o'er.
I'm closer to you now, than I ever was before.

There are many rocky roads ahead of you and many hills to climb;
but together we can do it by taking one day at a time.
It was always my philosophy and I'd like it for you too...
that as you give unto the world, the world will give to you.

If you can help somebody who's in sorrow and pain,
then you can say to God at night......"My day was not in vain."
And now I am contented....that my life has been worthwhile,
knowing as I passed along the way, I made somebody smile.

So if you meet somebody who is sad and feeling low,
just lend a hand to pick him up, as on your way you go.
When you're walking down the street, and you've got me on your mind;
I'm walking in your footsteps only half a step behind.

And when it's time for you to go.... from that body to be free,
remember you're not going.....you're coming here to me."

Lord I ask for courage

Courage to face and
Conquer my own fears...

Courage to take me
Where others will not go...

I ask for strength

Strength of body to protect others
And strength of spirit to lead others...

I ask for dedication

Dedication to my job, to do it well
Dedication to my community
To keep it safe...

Give me Lord, concern
For others who trust me
And compassion for those who need me...

And please Lord

Through it all
Be at my side...
