Reflections for Trooper Calvin Wayne Jenks

I was forutant enough to have the pleasure to work with and to get to know Calvin. In my short time of knowing Calvin he made me feel as if I had know him all my life. I pray for Sarah and Calvin's family and I also pray that justice will be done. Thanks Calvin! Thanks for the few memories we had, like the one on Jack Pond Rd. that was pretty funny. I will see you again but not yet!

Trooper Jenks was a fine young trooper who did a great job every day. He was an asset to the Patrol and will be missed as a trooper as well as a friend. He loved his wife, his parents and his brothers and sisters very much and talked about them often. May Justice be served by the Court and the LORD almighty

Well Calvin, it's been a month, and all of us are still missing you. Things just aren't the same in 4th District since 1/6.

I talked to Sarah this past Saturday afternoon and she was doing laundry...yes, that's what I said. I also went to see her last week and she seemed to be doing ok. We're all watching out for her now so you can rest easy that she's in good hands.

Keep looking down on us and providing us all with your protection. Tell my buddy Rich I said hi and that I think of you both often. Y'all are both safe in God's Kingdom now. We miss you.

February 6, 2007

Well Calvin, I don't have anything particular to say other that it is hard without you being here. It has been a month and has not gotten any better. But I feel certain that you are safe and staying very busy because obviously God had a HUGE task for you. I guess you know that those punks were in court last week. I hate so bad that Sara and the rest of your family had to sit and listen to all that. Well, gotta go for now just wanted to let you know that you are not and will not ever be forgotten. Love ya dude.

The circumstances of his death were heart breaking and I know caused much anquish for all those affected.

May Calvin's spirit continue to soar and his memory continue to inspire. May God hold Calvin and his family members in the warmest part of his heart and the most gentle part of his soul. I share the agony of Calvin's parents in losing a beloved child, and I know your life has been forever altered.

God bless Trooper Jenks, his family and the Tennessee Highway Patrol. I too have a son, his age 24, who is a member of our service. Everyday I think of him and I know that like Trooper Jenks, these young brave men have a calling that only wives, children, mothers and fathers understand. My prayers will be with all of you.

Trooper Jenks,
God Bless You and all of your family...Godspeed. These two will sit in judgement one day, not only here on earth but in the "Heavens" as well. I believe God will allow you to testify. Then your murderer's will have to look you in the eye, the way they forced you to do, when they cast their judgement upon you. His verdict will be swift, harsh, and eternal. WE WILL NOT FORGET.

My deepest sympathy to trooper Jenks' department and his family. As an officer I lost a partner in the line of duty in 2005 during a call in Wadena MN. I know the pain and heartache you are all feeling. May god lend you strength. I know I still need it. To Trooper Jenks, thank you brother for your sacrifice, rest easy your watch is finished we'll take it from here.
My thoughts and prayers to Trooper Jenks partners and family.

Well Calvin, they had those punks in court yesterday, as I'm sure you know. I just feel so horrible that your wife and parents had to listen to the details of your last moments on earth. We are taking care of them, as I know you are watching over them from above too. We will not give up until justice is served. Rest Peacefully Calvin.

I just got finished watching the footage from the preliminary hearing today. It breaks my heart to know what your family must be experiencing. I had an uncle killed in the line of duty, and though things never go back to normal, you adapt to a new "normal." With much prayer and support, your family will make it through this very difficult time. I know that they felt the worst was behind them, but as the trial goes on, it will only bring back the horrible event. I want your family to know that all law enforcement and their families are supporting and praying for them. In law enforcement, we are one big family. If something happens to one law enforcement officer, we all feel the pain. May God be with the entire Jenks family and know that our prayers and support continue to be with you through this trying time.

Trooper Jenks, thank you for your service to your community. I know as a friend of a fallen officer the pain of losing a great friend, officer and colleague from the streets. We know that to be called home so young there is a plan for you that we may not understand, but Heaven has another great officer patroling from above watching over us. Thank you again for your courage and vigor to go out and patrol your community every day keeping watch over the community. You can rest now and know that the men and women in Blue will pick up where you left off and keep watch in your honor. To the family, we say a prayer for strength and wisdom to keep going each day, for we know how difficult it is and the struggles you must face. know we all are there for you each day.

God speed our brother.

OFFICER WHO CARES

January 28, 2007

Another day another shift, the tour ends and the troop car returns without its precious cargo. Another law enforcement officer lays his life on the line so the public can sleep safe and sound tonight.

Your shift is over you paid the ultimate price and yes the public thanks you for your dedication and service.

And your brothers in law enforcement across this land shed a tear and salute you.

Your new patrol begins with all the other brother officers who paid the price. God has a new recruit one who already has its wings.

Rest in peace and may God bless and watch over your family.

You can shed tears that he is gone,
Or you can smile because he lived,
You can close your eyes and pray that he will come back,
Or you can open your eyes and see all that he has left.

Your heart can be empty because you can't see him
Or you can be full of the love that you shared,
You can turn your back on tomorrow and live yesterday,
Or you can be happy for tomorrow because of yesterday.

You can remember him and only that he is gone
Or you can cherish his memory and let it live on,
You can cry and close your mind be empty and turn your
back,
Or you can do what he would want: smile, open your eyes,
love and go on

"REMEMBER ME"
Law enforcement officers are, indeed, a special breed of people. Ask anyone on the street and they will tell you that they would not have our jobs for anything in the world. It takes something special to do what we do and at the same time be able to even contemplate retirement. We try to be optimists. Unfortunately, there are a few of us who will never make that date with retirement. By the very nature of our job, we are at risk everyday of losing our lives, either at the hand of some deranged individual or in some other situation that we, by virtue of our occupation, may be unable to avoid. Some people have recognized the hazardous duties we involve ourselves in, the risks we take, and the pride we take in accomplishing that job. There is National Law Enforcement Week, dedicated to us who gladly accept the responsibility of protecting the citizens in our respective jurisdictions. National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial Day is dedicated to those who gave their lives in the line of duty. These are but two examples of remembrances specifically for law enforcement personnel. Remembrances that come but once a year. We should remind fellow officers of another type of remembrance, one that will last a lifetime. Sooner or later, a doctor will pronounce us dead. It is inevitable. Regardless of whatever happens, death is the end we will all have to face.

My heart goes out to your family because my family and I have felt and continue to experience the trauma of loosing a beloved trooper to such a senseless act.
May God comfort your family as only He can, and may God see that justice is served on those whose actions took your life and have foreve changed the lives of your loved ones and friends.
God speed.
