Leave a Reflection

Reflections for Trooper Calvin Wayne Jenks

I did no have the priviledge of meeting you Trp. Jenks, but I thank your family for allowing you to serve your community.Although a life was lost, we won the fight and everytime these type of gutless people are roaming our streets we shall prevail.I pray this will be a lesson to us all that we must put our egos aside and not focus on the uniform but the person in it.

You are on all our minds today, as they have your killers in court this morning. I have to keep believing that justice will prevail. Watch over Sara, she is needing you the most right now. Rest in peace Calvin.

March 8, 2007

Calvin,

They're due back in court today. I sure hope it's a little easier on your family today than it was last time. I wish I could be there to show my support for them, but I've had to work last night, and didn't sleep well yesterday.

I called to check on Sarah and left her a message. Sure hope they all know I'm thinking about them. Give them your strength and courage to sit through this again. I'm sure they know you're there with them...always.

You are a true reminder of how dangerous and unpredictable this job is, only those who wear the unifrom will ever know. You will not be forgotten. Rest in peace Brother

Hey man just stopped by to read the reflections and say hi. Calvin you were a wonderful friend and I'm going to miss you there isnt a day you dont pass thruogh my mind.

March 3, 2007

Hey buddy,
Just wanted to let you know that I have been thinking about you today. I think of you everyday but for some reason you have been on my mind all day today. Calvin, it has not gotten any easier down here without you around but I do think that I have gotten the signal that you are okay and are still patroling, just different streets. I hope that Sarah is doing okay. I know in my heart that you are watching over your family. I saw Ryan the other day and oh, my gosh, he looks just like you did a few years back. Well, gotta go. Will see you one day. Please watch over us all and keep us from harms way.

A friend.

Time to Learn

The hand is cold
that once held mine.
I can't believe you've really left this world behind,
I can't wait,
I can't hope,
I'll get over this in time.

"It takes time to learn
when someone's gone for good,
their not coming back
like you wish they would.
In the empty hours,
when you miss them so,
then it's time to learn
to let them go."

Your last hours
we never knew,
we never had the chance
to say goodbye to you,
Words unsaid and things undone,
we just begun
and now we'll never see them through.

I heard these words sung on a cd - it does take time to learn, I am still learning to let go. God be with you during these painful times and may He give you some measure of comfort.

Its amazing how often we think of you here Calvin. I had an officer call for backup today with that tone in his voice (you know, the NOW tone) And the first thing I thought of while they were on the way to him was you. Sarah Beth, he was a good patrolman, and we miss him here in Tipton County. We are all here for you if you ever decide you'd like to talk to any of us, I hope you know that you are still in our thoughts and prayers.

Calvin,
You are missed even by those who didn't know you. I
read this poem today and wanted to post it here. It was
written by Bonnie Sanchez for her Mom.

I thought of you with love today, but that is nothing new
I thought of you yesterday and days before that, too.
I think of you in silence, I speak your name with pride
And I relive our memories of living side by side.
Your memory is my keepsake with which I'll never part
God has you in His keeping, I have you in my heart.
