A Part Of America Died,
Somebody killed a policeman today,
And part of America died.
A piece of our country he swore to protect,
Will be buried with him at his side.
The suspect that shot him will stand up in court,
With counsel demanding his rights.
While a young widowed mother must work for her kids,
And spend many long lonely nights.
The beat he walked was a battle field too
just as if he had gone off to war.
Though the flag of our nation won't fly at half mast,
To his name they will add a gold star.
Yes, somebody killed a policeman today,
In your town or mine,
While we slept in comfort behind locked doors,
A cop put his life on the line.
Now his ghost walks a beat on a dark city street,
And stands at each new rookies' side.
He answered the call,of himself and gave his all,
And a part of America died.

To the family and friends of Officer Bessant:

Our thoughts and prayers go out to you all during this difficult time. May God grant you the strength to make it through. We in the Dallas/Ft. Worth metroplex just buried one of our own brave heros today in Officer Dewayne Freeto. He too was taken from us far too soon and for reasons only God can help us understand.

May God be with all of those that lay their lives on the line daily to protect the world from the evils that are out there.

POLICEMAN'S PRAYER

Walk with him tonight
Dear Lord
Along each darkened street
Walk with him tonight
Dear lord
Along his lonely beat
Keep him happy through the night
And please make sure he's warm
And guide him to a sheltering door
In case there comes a time a storm
And let him know
Though he's not here
My prayers are free from fright
Because, Dear Lord ,
I, know so well
You're on his beat tonight

Dear Mrs. Bessant,
Although no one can feel the exact pain as you. Know that many others are walking the path that you must now travel. My son was 2 years old when we lost his mom. You will be caught up in a wirlwind of emotions. Feelings of loss, sadness, an overwelming since of pride. Do not be afraid to ask of help, or just ask to be alone when you want to.
You are in my thoughts and prayers.

I will be strong and courageous, I will not be terrified, or discouraged; for the lord my God is with me wherever I go. “Joshua 1:9”
The Lord asked, Police Officer, what do you ask of me? Lord, give me courage and give me strength. Give my fellow brothers the courage to do what is right, the wisdom to discover it and the will to enforce it. I ask you to look over those I have served. Those I have spent my life defending. The Lord stated “Those who live in the service of others will live forever.”
Always remember legendary acts may be forgotten but HEROES.......... LIVE.......... FOREVER.”
