Reflections for Deputy First Class William H. Beebe, Jr.

Officer William

I have never met you, though I saw your patrol car parked in front of your house all the time. My husband and son met you. My son kept taking the pinwheels out of your front yard and my husband kept putting them back...he did that with me also when I took him for a walk. You were very kind to him. You gave him a pinwheel one day when he kept taking it out. I am so sorry. I hope you are at peace in heaven with God and your family will be in my prayers. Bless you for all you did for us to keep us safe. You will be greatly missed.

The Lord asked, Police Officer, what do you ask of me? Lord, give me courage and give me strength. Give my fellow brothers the courage to do what is right, the wisdom to find it and the will to enforce it. I ask you to look over those I have served. Those I have spent my life defending. The Lord stated “Those who live in the service of others will always be a servant of the lord.” His hands where laid upon me and the lord said. “Police Officer, walk your beat on heavens streets you’ve done your time in hell.
Always remember legendary acts may never be forgotten but HEROES………. LIVE.......... FOREVER.”

"Why A Deputy"

Why do you wanna be a deputy so many people ask, your always getting beat up on, shot at, ridiculed and harassed
Why do you wanna be a deputy so many people want to know, you work long, hard, odd, strenuous hours for pay that’s a joke
Why do you wanna be a deputy people ask with uncertainty in their eyes, you get no respect and so many times you don’t even know if your gonna go home that night
Why do you wanna be a deputy my family is constantly asking, you put you’re life on the line everyday, and you see and hear the most horrible things
So why do I wanna be a deputy? Well it’s not easy to explain, it’s just something that I want in my heart, in my soul, in my inner flame

Why A Deputy?

For when I catch the burglar who broke into an old woman’s home, who has ruffed her up, stolen all her belongings and her pride and now she is scared to be alone.
To be able to tell her that he is behind bars and she is now safe, to be able to see a sigh of relief in her eyes, and a smile upon her face

Why A Deputy?

For when I pull over a car that’s a possible DUI and I give him a field sobriety test and realize this guy is way too drunk to drive
Because of me there is one less drunk out there tonight, one less possibility that he could kill someone or ruin an innocent life

Why A Deputy?

For when I arrive at the scene of a young girl who has been raped, her confidence, self-esteem, and pride have been stolen, and now she is scared and afraid
I hold her hand, and comfort her when she cries as I listen to her horrible story and assure her that everything will be all right, I am able to reassure her faith in herself and help her understand that she didn’t cause this rape, for now she believes in angels and she knows that I will keep her safe

Why A Deputy?

For when I see a smile on a child’s face and knowing that because of me their world is a little safer place
For when I teach kids to "just say no" and they remember it when someone tries to sell them dope
For all the good that I do For all the help that I provide
So Why a deputy you ask, because it’s worth it even if I only change one person’s life. ~ C. Suddoth

May God be with your family and your shift. Citizens and others may think that its just a job. Its more than just a job, you took a risk everyday for the citizens of Harford County as well as your family, your fiance' and your step-son. Im sure he looked up to you and is proud of you. May you rest in peace, may you watch over your fellow brothers who wear the shiney badges, and may God comfort your family in this time of need. Watch over and keep us safe, they have it from here. You will be missed Im sure but youve left a legacy behind you. Rest in Peace. All my thoughts and prayers with your family, your shift, and your family to be. HCSO make him proud and stay safe.

As the Sheriff of Harford County and Bill's boss, it goes without saying that my entire agency is in shock over this tragedy. Bill was an outstanding deputy who was recognized for his work only a week earlier when he was awarded our Merit Commendation. He was a perfect example of what we look for in a deputy and he had a outstanding future ahead of him. He leaves behind many fine coworkers who will not soon forget the short time he had with us. As only the second deputy to fall in the line-of-duty in our 232 year history and the first in 107 years, he will never be forgotten and will be forever a part of our rich history and proud tradition of service to the Citizens of Harford County, Maryland. I am proud to say he was one of my deputies.

When tomorrow starts without me,
And I'm not there to see,
If the sun should rise and find your eyes
all filled with tears for me;

I wish so much you wouldn't cry
the way you did today,
While thinking of the many things,
We didn't get to say.

I know how much you love me,
As much as I love you,
And each time that you think of me,
I know you'll miss me too;

But when tomorrow starts without me,
Please try to understand,
that an angel came and called my name,
And took me by the hand,

And said my place was ready,
In heaven far above,
And that I'd have to leave behind
all those I dearly love.

But as I turned to walk away,
A tear fell from my eye,
For all my life, I'd always thought,
I didn't want to die.

I had so much to live for,
So much left yet to do,
it seemed almost impossible,
that I was leaving you.

I thought of all the yesterdays,
The good ones and the bad,
I thought of all that we shared,And all the fun
we had.

If I could relive yesterday,
Just even for a while,
I'd say good-bye and kiss you
and maybe see you smile.

But then I fully realized,
That this could never be,
For emptiness and memories,
would take the place of me.

And when I thought of worldly things,
I might miss some tomorrow,
I thought of you, and when I did,
My heart was filled with sorrow.

But when I walked through heaven's gates,
I felt so much at home.
When God looked down and smiled at me,
From His great golden throne,

He said, "This is eternity,
And all I've promised you."
Today your life on earth is past,
but here life starts anew.

I promise no tomorrow,
But today will always last,
and since each day is the same way,
There's no longing for the past.

So when tomorrow starts without me,
don't think we're far apart,
For every time you think of me,
I'm right here, in your heart "

DFC William Beebe,

Though we never met we were brothers. We shared a dedication to the protection of our counties, to our great State of Maryland, and to our country. Those of us that dedicate our lives to the service of others be it in the Military/Reserves, Fire/Rescue, or Police/Correctional fields, know and accept the risks that we face everyday. When one of our number is lost it affects us all. I can only hope that one day when our troubles on earth are through that we shall meet in the hereafter.

Rest in Peace Brother...
