WHY CAN'T PEOPLE JUST PAY ATTENTION AND SLOW DOWN!

Dear David:

I don't know you and I've never met you. I am praying and will continue to pray for your wife and children and for your family. I still remember how I felt when my brother was taken from me. I feel all the pain and trauma that they are experiencing. It's overwhelming. You were a great man...you gave the ultimate sacrifice. May God bless you and your family.

Rest in peace.

Reality

Imagine how our world would be
If every police officer quit
Turned in their gun, turned in their badge,
Just finally had enough of it.

No respect, no loyalty,
No appreciation of all they do,
They’d give their lives for all of us,
These wonderful officers of “Blue”.

Kicked at, spit on,
Punched, stabbed and shot,
Everyday assaults on officers,
Done…without thinking a second thought!

Our laws are in favor of criminals,
There’s always some loophole in their case,
Out again to commit more crimes and murders
…creates pain, that we, the family and friends
…in time will never erase.

Why should they do it?
Why take the risk?
Why put their life on the line?
Subject their loved ones to endless suffering,
When their precious life is lost while fighting crime.

More murders, more kidnappings, more robberies and rapes,
Just to mention a few,
Please ask yourself how life would be,
If there were NO officers in Blue!

Would you do it? Could you do it?
And for how many…would YOU give it all?
Rewards are a 21 gun salute, a Medal of Honor,
And your name gets added to the Wall.

Think about it. Why are they here?
And why do some hate them so?
Because they enforce the laws that put convicts and murderers
In jail serving time, or on “Death Row”.

All give some and some give all,
It’s a risk they chose to take:
To put their heart and soul in it,
To put their lives at stake.

So, please take a moment,
Please give it deep thought,
Think of what “you can do”…

To help show respect,
To help follow the laws,
So we’d quit losing our Heroes in Blue!

Just A Little Thanks:

You are brave, strong, and willing
To do what most would not dare.
I thank you for all the help
And my promise to you is, I will care.

I will obey the law,
I will respect what you do and say,
I will tell my friends to be aware of,
WHAT YOU SACRIFICE FOR US EACH DAY!

As a friend and collegue of Dave's Father-in-law, as a former co-worker, comrade and friend I can't begin to express my heartfelt pain for the loss to all of us and especially to Jess and his children. As I reflect on the times when Dave spoke of goals and objectives for a short live he accomplished many of them. There are few of us at DVC that still know of Dave but the loss is felt deep within the college community. If there is anything that the children or you you need Jess, please have your father contact me or Dave's old Supervisor Lt. Wayne Pietzsch and will try make it happen for Dave. If I am quote the closing of the Policeman's Prayer:
And if according to your plan,
I am to lose my life,
Please bless with your protecting hand
My children and my wife.

My God bless you all and may God bless Dave..... JCM

May the road rise to meet you,
and the wind be ever at your back.
May the sun shine warm upon your face,
and the rain fall softly on your fields.
And until we meet again, may GOD hold
you in the hollow of his hand.

Officer Petzold, you gave the supreme sacrifice. You will be greatly missed by everyone that has met you. Through meeting you when you'd stop by the firehouse and at the numerous calls that we've been on, I've known you to be very professional and caring person. I know that you loved helping others and have touched many people's lives. You will never be forgotten by the many lives that you have touched. My condolences especially to his family and his fellow officers. May you always be remembered.

To the Petzold Family,
My heart goes out to your family. I lost my husband on Sept. 28, 2006. He was an Ohio State Trooper for 22 years. He was on his way to work, the morning of his wreck. He had been gone from the house less then 2 minutes. If you every want to write, feel free. I'd love to talk. Hang in there.. We are thinking of you. I also have two teenage boys age 15 & 17.

I would like to express some comforting words to the family of Dave Petzold. Dave was my brother's best friend and confidant. Not a day would go by without a phone call or a visit from him or his family. I can't believe your life was cut so short. I will miss your smiling face, and the way you would light up a room when you were in it. Our family will miss so very much. I am blessed to have shared your friendship in this life time. You were and angel amoung us.

An Angel’s Flight

I come to you like an Angel

And I spread my wings,

My eyes focus on God,

No longer Earthly things.

Don’t weep for me tomorrow,

Or even today

For I am with my Father,

Walking hand in hand each day

I have been blessed,

By each one that I love

And I see each and every one of you,

As I rest up above

Though I must leave you,

May your spirit be light

I am with you forever,

Walk in faith, not by sight.

Deepest sympathy to the Petzold family. Inv. Petzold was one of the detective's who responded to my home in May 2003 when my husband & I were robbed. He & Detective Nicolleti were great. They did a thorough investigation and not only did they do their job well but they made us feel better in the meantime. Of course you would be shook up to come home & find your door kicked in and your belonging's missing but some how they put us at ease.
You could tell by watching them work together that they were a great team. I have nothing but the upmost respect for our law enforcement and for the Upper Saucon Police Dept. I love living in Upper Saucon and one of the reasons is our reliable police, fire & emergency personel. Thank you Det. Petzold for all you did and Thank You Upper Saucon PD for doing a great job! Rest in Peace and may God bless Det. Petzolds family.

Dave, you will be missed by everyone lucky enough to come into contact with you. All of 05-10 were better people for having known you. I'll miss your humor and down to earth take on the job, family and life in general. Your devotion to the job was evident to those you work with, your dedication and love for your family is evident to all.

Your life was cut short, but you affected so many people and impacted so much.

On behalf of New Agents Class 05-10, we would like to offer our condolences to the entire Petzold family especially his wife Jessica and their three children. We consider it an honor to have met and worked with such an outstanding individual as Dave. Each one of us has our own stories of how Dave touched our lives and we will always cherish those memories and the 18 weeks that we spent with Dave at Quantico.

Dave was the type of individual that would always put the needs of others in front of his own. Whenever someone needed to talk, Dave was always there to lend an ear and offer some advice. Dave was a man of impeccable character who represented the best of Fidelity, Bravery, and Integrity.

Dave, you will surely be missed. May God Bless your soul and your family during their time of need.
