I only met Dave one time - at the FBI Special Agent graduation in Swptember of 2005 in Quanitico, Virginia, but immediately saw why my son Chad, his FBI training roommate, really liked him. May he rest in peace.

Dave was a good friend of my husbands son, Chad Piontek. My husband and I were at the FBI graduation at Quantico. I'm sure that Chad introduced Dave to us. What I can tell you is that Chad cherishes the friendship he had with Dave.
My heart goes out to your family, especially the children. All of you are in our hearts and prayers. Dave's memory and wonderful smile will always be with us.

May you rest in peace.

Do not stand at my grave and weep
I am not there, I do not sleep
I am a thousand winds that blow
I am the diamond glints on snow
I am the sunlight on ripened grain
I am the gentle autumns rain
When you awaken in the mornings hush
I am the swift uplifting rush
of quiet birds in circled flight
I am the soft stars that shine at night
Do not stand at my grave and weep
I am not there I do not sleep

"Life is not measured by the amount of breaths you take, but the number of times life takes your breath away"

I did not have the luxury of knowing you as well as I would have liked, but I know you had a group of people around you who cared deeply for you , and will be there for your family. Through them I have heard stories about your life, your family and what a wonderful person and Police Officer you were. The quote above is quoted from an officer at the Police funeral of a friend I lost in Phoenix, and from what I have learned about you in the last few days, I know you took everyone's breath away that had the luxury of knowing you.

To your family, I express my deepest sorrow, and if there is ever anything I can do I will be there. You are a true hero, and you will live forever with all of us.

I first met Dave on a cold February morning on the track at the University of Penn. I knew then he was driven to succeed in all he did. Little did I know that 3 months later, I would meet him on the side of 95 and drive to Quantico with him. For the next 18 weeks, I sat next to him, shot next to him, built a staple chain with him and grew to know him.

Dave was an incredible person. A devote father, husband, officer and friend, Dave personified all you expect of a police officer and Special Agent. I'll never forget the group talks in the hallways and the way he used to make us all laugh. We grazed at the Petzold cafe, and supported each other through every trial and obstacle. Graduation was a happy time for all of us and I remember Dave was happy to go home. None of us in 05-10 doubted his reasons to return to Upper Saucon PD and after speaking with Dave a few weeks later, I knew he was again happy to be home. I last saw Dave in May, at a wedding of a Quantico classmate. Had I known it would have been the last time i saw him, I would have shook his hand a little longer and thanked him for just being him.

It was an honor to stand beside Dave, an honor to serve with him, an honor to know him, and an honor to call him a friend. My deepest condolences go out to his wife, Jessica, and their three children. Dave was a hero to us all and he will be deeply missed.

A Prayer for the Fallen
"He shall grown not old, as we that are left grow old.
Age shall not weary him, nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun and in the morning,
We will remember him"

I only had the opportunity to know Dave a few short months as a cheerleading coach to one of his daughters. What I can tell you is that he was one of the most devoted fathers I have ever met. He was truly remarkable and will be missed by many. Let his family be comforted in knowing that he will be watching them from above.

God Speed to you and your family.
Your loss will never be forgotten.

I pray for the healing of your family and the ability to find peace and joy in the happy memories that will fill their existance.

We lost two officers in Fairfax in May, and it was one of the hardest things to understand and deal with for all involved. I have read all the reflections and wonder if our paths had crossed, when you were at the FBI academy, as we lived 2 minutes from there in Quantico/Stafford.

When my husband rides in the Police Unity Tour in May, my son, daughter and I will leave a flower on your Husbands name. god Speed.

My deepest sympathy today goes to the family, friends and fellow officers of this fine young man and hero. Although I have long since left the area, I grew up in Fountain Hill and I still have family in Saucon Valley. Five years ago my wife and I lost our police officer son and hero in a tragic accident and so we know the pain of your loss. May God give you the strength you will need to go on and grant you His peace.

Rest in peace brother. You now walk a beat on Heaven's streets. While I did not know Dave, I feel a very strong bond to all men who choose to wear a badge and lay down their lives for those that they do not know. For there is no greater love that one man would lay down his life for another. My condolences to Dave's family, his brothers-in-arms at the Upper Saucon Police Department and his fellow brothers in blue who grieve every time one of our own makes the ultimate sacrifice.

Jessica, my oldest son (one of my five children) who will soon be 18 was involved in an automobile accident about 7 months ago. Your kind husband was the officer who responded. He comforted my son in this very scary time in two ways. First, Officer Petzold was a familiar face. My son had already feelings of admiration for David for the work he did in the community within the youth community. Secondly, because of how calmly and understandingly the entire accident was handled. When I arrived at the scene, I was also comforted by his calming nature. He made us feel that everything was going to be okay, and I knew my son had been in good hands from the beginning.
Our children enjoyed the 2006 football/cheerleading season together, and we will Pray for you all. God Bless

An Upper Saucon Family

You touched more lives than you know.
May your wife and children always hold you in their heart and may their grieving be eased by the love and concern of the community, friends, and family.
