Reflections for Police Officer Thomas T. Wood

Rest easy my brother. As a fellow K9 officer, I know your family and friends will take care of your partner. I know the bond and your partner will miss you deeply. But I believe our K9 partners have souls and God will reunite the both of you.

I now work in northern California but my career started with Cook County. I know all too well the challenge of working in and around Chicago. All of you have my humble admiration.

Our prayers and thoughts are with your family and friends. God bless you and them and may He bring some measure of comfort and protection in their time of sorrow.

OUR HERO OF BLUE

Our hero of blue has fallen
A time of peace is calling
For you to go with God above
He'll give you wings of blue with love
To send a message for everyone
To remember a life and what was done
A dream fulfilled of our angel of blue
We honor you for the job you swore to do
A promise was kept from a hero like you
You put your life on the line each day
To protect and serve in everyway
And to give you thanks we will do our part
To share your message and to keep you in our heart

Dear Tom:
And yet again, another brother officer has given his life, and yet again, I find myself writing another reflection to a fallen hero.
Tom, I find it almost ironic that the motto for your city is, "Village of Eternal Light", because with your service, your city, and all of America for that matter, will have eternal light. You gave all you had for the oath you took, and, "In valor, there is hope".
The coward who committed this horrific act will NEVER know peace, not until justice is done. And rest assured my brother, justice WILL be done. Both here, and in a better place, at a later time. But for now, Tom, rest easy knowing that you will never be forgotten, nor will the sacrifice you made. America has a long list of heroes, Tom, and you are one of them.
May Almighty God bless you, your family, and ease their sorrow. And may He continue to bless police ooficers everywhere, and God Bless America. Amen.
