Its hard to believe its been 3 years. Not a day goes by that i dont think about that morning. As you know, i stop by and visit you regularly with a heavy heart. But i know you and you are probably up there looking down, smiling at me shaking your head telling me its "ok". I love and miss you brother.

Your heroism and service is honored today, the third anniversary of your death. Your memory lives and you continue to inspire. Thank you for your service. My cherished son Larry Lasater was a fellow police officer who was murdered in the line of duty on April 24, 2005 while serving as a Pittsburg, CA police officer.

Time never diminishes respect. Your memory will always be honored and revered. Rest In Peace.

I hold your family in thought and prayer today.

My husband and I stopped by the Saraland PD Friday with my friend, Lt. Danny Walker. I was married to Trooper Brian Nichols, EOW 2/17/2002. I saw the wall of honor they have there and saw Tony's picture. I also saw the picture of him in Iraq and the letter that he had written them while he was there. I thought it was very nice of them to remember him the way they do. Just remember that Tony is remembered!

Tony was a wonderful person to work with. In the time we were on the force together, we became friends. This friendship grew even stronger when I married a fellow officer and Tony went on to work for Saraland. I always looked forward to seeing Tony come in to work. It never failed that he would tell me "Good Morning Sunshine" and after a crazy night on duty, my response would be "What's so good about it?!". When I got the phone call that Tony was in the hospital, my heart stopped. He was more than a friend, he was like a brother and an uncle to my son. Not a day goes by that I don't think about him. I miss him more than words can say. Rest in Peace Tony. I love and miss you so much!!

"The Badge"
He starts his shift each day
To respond to calls unknown.
He drives a marked patrol car.
A police officer he is known.
He's paid by the citizens' taxes
To make it safe on the streets.
But he usually has a second job
'Cause a waitress has his salary beat.
Now he doesn't know a holiday
'Cause he works all year round.
And when Thanksgiving and Christmas finally arrive
At his home he cannot be found.
He's cursed and assaulted often,
The one whos blood runs blue.
He seldom ever gets a thanks,
To some he's just a fool.
His friends are always other cops
'Cause people just don't understand
That underneath his badge and gun,
He's just another man.
He knows there might not be a tomorrow
In this world of drugs and crime.
And he gets so mad at the court system
'Cause the crooks don't get any time.
And each day when he leaves for work,
He prays to God above.
Please bring me home after my shift
So I can see the ones I love.
But tonight he stops a speeding car,
He's alone down this ole' highway.
It's just a little traffic infraction.
He does it everyday.
Well, he walks up to the driver's window,
And his badge is shining bright.
He asked the guy for a driver's license,
When a shot rang through the night.
Yes, the bullet hit its mark,
Striking the officer in the chest.
But the Department's budget didn't buy
Each officer a bullet-proof vest.
So he lay on the ground bleeding.
His blood wasn't blue - His blood was red.
And briefly he thought of his loved ones
'Cause in a moment the officer was dead.
In the news they told the story
Of how this officer had died.
And some who listened cared less,
But those who loved him cried.
Well, they buried him in uniform
With his badge pinned on his chest.
He even had his revolver,
He died doing his best.

Tony,
It's been a year and a half now and I still can't believe your gone. We all miss you so much. It seems like just yesterday, you were rolling your eyes and laughing when me and Marsha called you and told you that I was lost in Saraland and she had gotten me "loster". Without a thought, you were there in minutes, guiding me to where I needed to be. No matter what, if I called, you were there, no matter how stupid or silly or serious it was. You and I had our differences when we first met, but it didn't take long for me to find out that you were the best thing that ever happened to my baby sister. I'll always be thankful to you for that, for being Jesse's Daddy too, even when you didn't have to be, and for giving us all Brooklyn and Courtney. Your legacy will always live on in those 3 beautiful children. I love you Tony........

Tony,

Seeing your Memorial saddens me so much and makes me think of so many things. It makes me think of good memories, bad memories, things left unsaid, but mostly it makes me think of how the world lost such a great man, a great friend, a great father, husband, brother ,son, grand-son, Police Officer, Soldier. You were a man who wore many hats and wore them all with pride, dignity, and respect. I made a trip to Washington D.C. to the N.L.E.O.M. so I could see your name engraved on the Memorial Wall, but as luck would have it I went in March of this year and they didn't add your name to the wall until May. The nice employees at the Memorial did mail me 2 pencil impressions of your name off of the wall after it was added in May. Even after well over a year, it is hard for me to believe that you are not with us anymore. You will never be forgotten, Brother...Rest In Peace until we meet again....

I remember sitting in the drill hall on national guard duty with you. I was in the police acedemy and you were a veteran police officer. You didn't have to take time out for me but you did. It's been over a year and let me tell you, you are not forgotten. I had some business at SPD and I had never been there before. When I went into the headquarters I saw a nice memorial to you. I also saw stickers on patrol cars "421". You are still missed brother.

I came across your name and came to your page to leave a reflection. My thoughts are with your loved ones as I know their daily pain. The first thing they think of when they wake each day is you and the last thing they think of before falling asleep are thoughts of you. You will never be forgotten. Continue to keep watch over your loved ones. Also, watch over those still out on patrol. You are a true hero.

When thinking of a hero, I could look no further than Tony Andrews. You were truly a real life hero! I am sure that smile shines bright as you look down upon your wife and children! We miss you.
