As our white glove dressed hands slowly rise to the brim of our uniform hat, we salute you Officer Byrd. We salute you for the sacrifice you made to your community and your profession.

To Officer Byrd's family, we send our condolences adn prayers as you grieve with his loss. Just remember that Michale is with an Elite squad now sitting with some of the finest officers to wear the badge. The briefing room he is in now doesnt have that funny aroma most of us officers can relate to. He is home now.

Officer Michael Byrd, you are relieved of duty sir, we have it from here. "TEN HUT"

Mike, you truly will be missed. There was never an officer that could lift my spirits on a bad day quite like you. I am at a loss for words and still completly shocked that you are gone. I have total confidence that the men and women with PPD will continue on with you in their hearts and your family in their prayers.

You were a true friend. Rest in Peace my friend.

I read the anouncement with great sorrow. I remember Officer Byrd from my time in Pascagoula last year, for Hurricane Katrina. He was a fine officer and someone who helped everyone he came into contact with. I want everyone at the Pascagoula Police Department to know my thoughts and prayers are with you and the family of Officer Byrd. It was my pleasure to have known such a good officer and man.

Patrolman Byrd: Your loss is felt even out here in California. We are sorry you had to leave your family and department, but I know you are with Our Lord on patrol in Heaven. Now you can watch over your loved ones from on high. Keep watch over your brother and sister officers in all departments here on earth. Thank you for your dedication to duty and all the work you did to keep the citizens of your community safe.

Officers of Pascagoula PD...always remember your brother and he will only be a breath away. You will bear this grief and you must help his family through this painful time. Keep them in your hearts and prayers and go by and visit with them. Sharing stories hurts at times, but the smiles will help ease the hurt as you all recall some funny thing Michael did or another heroic action he took.

Be strong and know there are citizens who appreciate your, love you and thank you for yur duty and your sacrifices.

God bless you!

Love and hugs to help ease the pain,

I know of no words that will suffice. I was deeply saddened to see that we've lost yet another officer.
As a retired motor jockey I know that Officer Michael Byrd Jr. gave his life doing what he loved. The brotherhood of police officers is a special thing but the brotherhood of motor officers is another thing entirely.
May the family, friends and co-workers experience the eternal love and endless blessings of our Lord and Savior.
