Leave a Reflection

Reflections for Patrolman T. Micheal Byrd

God gathered his army
for battle to ride
Down to meet evil
his head he did try to hide
Calling from the lead
God asked along the way
Who did I call that March sunny day
to be in my line of thunder and fear
but one young motorcop
"grinning ear to ear"
Micheal, was his name, Angel with wings
On a steel horse, praises did he sing
He moved to the front
"peanutbutter on a spoon"
He knew the fight would be coming soon
God then told him
"I called you early in youth and
they did not understand"
"My need was to train you for the
battle at hand"
Now, you move out front and call out
loud "A MOTORCOP WAS I AND MY FATHER
IS PROUD"!!!!!!!!!!

Trust in the Lord with all thine heart, lean not unto thy own understanding, In all thy ways acknowledge him and he shall direct thy paths. Proverbs 3: 5-6

I pray God's unfailing grace and love on the Byrd Family
We will not forget Micheal!!

In Valor there is Hope. Rest in Peace, Brother.

Policeman's 23rd Psalm

The Lord is my Shepherd, I shall not want,
His comforting hand reduces fear to naught;
He makes me walk through streets of crime,
But He gives me courage and peace of mind.

He leads me by still waters in the path I trod,
And He says in Romans I'm a "minister of God,"
He leads me in righteousness as He restores my soul,
For His name's sake He keeps me whole.

When I walk through death's valley, right up to the door,
I will fear no evil, for He comforts me more;
For Thou art with me every step of the way,
As thy rod and thy staff protect me each day.

He prepares a table, especially for me,
As I work daily among life's enemies;
He gives me authority to uphold the law,
And He anoints my position in the midst of it all.

Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me,
Each day of my life through eternity;
As I long to hear Him say, "Well done...,"
When I lay down my life, my badge, and my gun.

My most heartfelt condolences to the family, friends and fellow officers of Patrolman Byrd. You are all in my thoughts and prayers.

To his wife: I lost my husband in the line of duty one year ago and am left to raise 2 children on my own. This is a very painful journey that none of us wanted to take. Please know that you do not walk this path alone but with many others who have endured similar losses. You may not believe this right now - but you will get through this. You will find the strength and the courage to continue on. You have a guardian angel now who will be with you and your sweet child always.

Thank you, Patrolman Byrd, for your service and sacrifice. May God bless you and may you rest in eternal peace, forever safe in the arms of the angels.

The policeman stood and faced God,
Which must always come to pass.
He hoped his shoes were shining,
Just as brightly as his brass.

"Step forward now, policeman.
How shall I deal with you?
Have you always turned the other cheek?
To my church have you been true?"

The policeman squared his shoulders and said,
"No lord, I guess I ain't,
Because those of us who carry a badge
can't always be a saint."

I've had to work most Sundays,
and at times my talk was rough,
and sometimes I've been violent,
Because the streets are awfully tough.

But I never took a penny,
That wasn't mine to keep
Though I worked a lot of overtime
When the bills got just too steep.

And I never passed a cry for help,
Though at time I shook with fear.
And sometimes, God forgive me,
I've wept unmanly tears.

I know I don't deserve a place
Among the people here.
They never wanted me around
Except to calm their fear.

If you've a place for me here, Lord,
It needn't be so grand.
I never expected or had too much,
But if you don't I'll understand.

There was a silence all around the throne
Where the saints had often trod.
As the policeman waited quietly,
For the judgement of his god.

"Step forward now, policeman,
You've born your burdens well.
Come walk a beat on Heaven's streets,
You've done your time in hell"

It Is with heavy heart that I write this. I have known Officer Byrd,
"Little Mike" since he was a kid in school. Also known as "Baby Byrd" from those of us here at the P.D. Mike has always looked up to those who served in the capacity of law enforcement. Coming from a family rich in generations of Law Enforcement Officers it was always known that Mike would end up being a police officer. His dedication to his profession was an outstanding example for all to follow. Mike was a forthright stern officer when it came to respect for the badge. He believed that any man with the courage to wear it deserved that respect. Mike also had a heart of gold when it came to helping others. During our time of despair, suffering the devastation of hurricane Katrina, Mike worked tirelessly handing out ice and water for all of those that were in need here at the Police Dept. and to the public. That came from the goodness that was in his heart, not only for the people that he served, but the officers that he was so proud to be a part of. I for one am going to miss his always present kind and respectful nature, his good humor and his infectious laugh….. his ability to make you want to be around him and share the things that bring people together. Friendship, Respect, Brotherhood. Mike, I love ya brother, I already miss ya, I know that you are in a much better place, I know that your at the right hand of God. Where he keeps all his good soldiers. Rest in peace and know that you are missed and still loved on earth. Your tour of duty on this earth is done, but your spirit will ride on in every man that wears the badge and puts forth the courage to do what you were willing to give your life for in doing. God Bless.

The staff and members of the Chauffeur Internet Radio want to send the family, friends, and sisters and brothers in law enforcement our deepest sympathys and condolences.
To my dearest family, some things I'd like to say.
But first of all, to let you know, that I arrived okay.
I'm writing this from Heaven. Here I dwell with God above.
Here, there's no more tears of sadness; Here is just enternal love.
Please do not be unhappy just because I'm out of sight.
Remember that I am with you every morning, noon and night.
That day I had to leave you when my life on earth was through
God picked me up and hugged me and he said,'I welcome you.
It's good to have you back again, you were missed while you were gone.
As for your dearest family, They'll be here later on.
I need you here badly, you're part of my plan.
There's so much that we have to do, to help our mortal man.'
God gave me a list of things, that he wished for me to do.
And foremost on the list, was to watch and care for you.
And when you lie in bed at night the days chores put to flight.
God and I are closest to you....In the middle of the night.
When you think of my life on earth, and all those loving years.
Because you are only human they are bound to bring tears.
But do not be afraid to cry: it does relieve the pain.
Remember there would be no flowers, unless there was some rain.
I wish that I could tell you all that God has planned.
If I were to tell you, you would not understand.
But one thing is for certain, though my life on earth is over.
I'm closer to you now, than I ever was before.
There are many rocky roads ahead of you, and many hills to climb;
But together we can do it by taking one step at a time.
It was always my philosophy and I'd like it for you to;
That as you give unto the world, the world will give to you.
If you can help somebody who's in sorrow and pain;
Then you can say to God at night...."My day was not in vain."
God Bless You All
