Forgive me for missing the anniversary of your E.O.W., but I felt as though I could not continue to read about so many tragedies. I now realize the visit each day to leave a word of encouragement and hope to the loved ones of others, helps me to remember that I am not alone with my pain and heartbreak. So may I say to your friends and loved ones that my thoughts and prayers are with them now and always. Continue to keep watch over them and those still out on patrol and may they know you will never be forgotten.

Jeff buddy, It's already been two years today. We all miss you very much. I think of you every time I enter the institution. Sometimes, I still think you might be there to greet me, but then I see the memorial out front and remember that I will never see you there again. All of us at RCI love you and your family and you will always be in our hearts and minds.

Jeff,
Another birthday for you. And no matter how many there are you will still be older than me! Our little joke! I miss you so much. You are in my thoughts daily. I think of so many things I wish I had done different. I always tried to do what I thought was best, but we never truly know what was best until afterward. You were and still are such a huge part of me. You helped make me who I am. I wish you were here so I could call you and give you a hard time.
All my love.

Yesterday was Memorial day, I thought about you all day long. Miss you so much!!! The Huntington police department had a memorial service for fallen officers in the Tri-State area and your name was read off. (you know Dad, he knows everyone) Aunt Brenda and I attended and they gave us a rose on your behalf. They also sent dad a letter and a Medal of Valor on your behalf. Dad gave it to me, it meant alot that he did that. So I'm going to have the letter and medal framed and hang it up with a shadow box that I made with alot of stuff that I recieved in Washington. Love you Uncle Jeff, you are my Hero!!!

Jeff,
I had the great honor of riding for you last year and meeting several of your co-workers and family at the end of the Police Unity Tour. This year, I'm riding for another fallen brother, but still think of you often. Once again, thanks for making the ultimate sacrifice.

There has been some justice (for what it's worth). The piece of scum got a life sentence without benefits.

My thoughts are with all of your loved ones on this anniversary of you being called away from duty. I spent 30 years in law enforcement and always admired those heroes that chose corrections as their career field. It takes a special person to be locked up and unarmed with the worst that society can produce. You are a true hero. Continue to keep watch over your loved ones and your brothers and sisters who are still on watch in your profession.

This amazing man lives on additionally through the people who received his organ donations. In his untimely death, he donated life. I myself am a living organ donor with both West Virginia and Maryland connections. Thank you to the family for making the brave decision that they did, and forever bless the soul and spirit of this special, wonderful man, Officer Wroten.

There are some friendships that are but a fleeting memory, but Jeff our friendship will last for ever. I will always remember you and the lessons that you taught me, and one day when I pass on, maybe we can meet up and share our memories once again.
Thanks for lessons you handed out, I will try to pass them on to my son who has followed us into this life of putting the bad guys behind bars and then keeping them there.

i was at work that fateful night shift, when all should have been quiet in the world when the peace shattered and all hell broke loose. Am totally grateful that the suspect was located relatively quickly and before he could hurt anyone else. God Bless You and your brethren working behind walls and fences.

Happy Birthday Big Brother!
I was awake all night thinking of you. I can't believe it is your second birthday away from us. You are missed more than you know. I was trying to think of my first memory of you. We were 7 & 2 playing with your cars in the waiting room of Daddy's office. Getting the change holders out of his desk. Those are my first memories of us. I was thinking of all the times you were there for me. I wish I would have been better at being there for you. Thank you for all you did for me growing up.

I love you.

"The Badge"
He starts his shift each day
To respond to calls unknown.
He drives a marked patrol car.
A police officer he is known.
He's paid by the citizens' taxes
To make it safe on the streets.
But he usually has a second job
'Cause a waitress has his salary beat.
Now he doesn't know a holiday
'Cause he works all year round.
And when Thanksgiving and Christmas finally arrive
At his home he cannot be found.
He's cursed and assaulted often,
The one whos blood runs blue.
He seldom ever gets a thanks,
To some he's just a fool.
His friends are always other cops
'Cause people just don't understand
That underneath his badge and gun,
He's just another man.
He knows there might not be a tomorrow
In this world of drugs and crime.
And he gets so mad at the court system
'Cause the crooks don't get any time.
And each day when he leaves for work,
He prays to God above.
Please bring me home after my shift
So I can see the ones I love.
But tonight he stops a speeding car,
He's alone down this ole' highway.
It's just a little traffic infraction.
He does it everyday.
Well, he walks up to the driver's window,
And his badge is shining bright.
He asked the guy for a driver's license,
When a shot rang through the night.
Yes, the bullet hit its mark,
Striking the officer in the chest.
But the Department's budget didn't buy
Each officer a bullet-proof vest.
So he lay on the ground bleeding.
His blood wasn't blue - His blood was red.
And briefly he thought of his loved ones
'Cause in a moment the officer was dead.
In the news they told the story
Of how this officer had died.
And some who listened cared less,
But those who loved him cried.
Well, they buried him in uniform
With his badge pinned on his chest.
He even had his revolver,
He died doing his best.
