Leave a Reflection

Reflections for Officer Jeffery Alan Wroten

Yes, Jeff. That's right. Lieutenant. None of this would have been possible without having someone like you beleive in me. Thankyou. I know that you are still watching over me, because I still sometimes hear your voice when I walk through the academy....

Hey Jeff,
It's been seven years & much has happened but when it comes to this morning & its events it seems like only yesterday. And I will never forget your rambling gait, round shaved head, broad smirk like friendly smile that earned you the nickname of ‘Shrek’ from John Hays! I also remember a tap of fists in greeting with those massive ham-hock sized fists. But most of all Jeff, I will never forget your integrity, morality, & your Godliness! I consider it a privilege to not only have known you & I thank God every day that He allowed us to become such close friends! I thank Him for the few short years, months & days that He allowed you & me to spend together. Thank you ‘Shrek’ for being you! I miss ya & love ya!

Another birthday. We love and miss you so much. I know where you are and I know what you are doing. I know you are aware of all the changes in our lives. I'm sure these six years are a blink of an eye for you. I guess they have to be long for us so we have time to heal. It is a long process but one we work at. We love you!

My name is Melissa Ross I worked at WCH I came in the morning officer Wroten was shot and I was there the morning he was wheeled past me to go to the OR for organ donation. I continued working at WCH until 2010. I now work for WMC. I still to this day can not go in a room with a guard and not cry. But I have always wondered how his wife is and how her health turned out. I have never forgotten or the kids I saw come into the ICU that day to say goodbye. I have always questioned how they were and how his wife was. I was happy to find this site so that I could reach out to her and to hear she was ok. I didnt know your husband but I have never forgotten and your children have been in my memory every day. To the children I want you know that your dad past as a hero doing one of the most difficult jobs I know.

Hi Jeff;
It's been 5 long years, but as your sister said, 'The number seems so large when it still feels this close'. I miss the many hours we spent in conversation, sharing each others problems, our innermost thoughts & beliefs. And Jeff above all else I miss your words of encouragement & the sharing of faith & our love for God! RIP Shrek!

Your heroism and service is honored today, the fifth anniversary of your death. Your memory lives and you continue to inspire. Thank you for your service. My cherished son Larry Lasater was a fellow police officer who was murdered in the line of duty on April 24, 2005 while serving as a Pittsburg, CA police officer.

Time never diminishes respect. Your memory will always be honored and revered for your selfless and distinquished service to our country in the aftermath of 9/11. I pray for solace for all those who love and remember you for I know both the pain and pride are forever.

Rest In Peace

Jeff, it is hard to believe that five years have gone by without you here. I know you are watching over us. A lot of things have changed and a lot of things are still the same. But everything is different without you. Your perspective was unique. Your thoughts and opinions mattered and they are missed. We love you!

5 years ago today you spent your last day on earth... we make sure the girls remember all the wonderful details of that day, right down to you disco dancing in the kitchen with them before you went home to go to work. Life has never been the same without you... it never will be. You are missed everyday. Our girls are growing up to be wonderful young women. I know you would be so proud of them.

Your brothers and sisters have been so good to us and have become such a large part of our life. We're truly blessed.
