Reflections for Police Officer Kevin M. Lee

Dearest Kevin,

The pride, joys and the so many wonderful memories you left behind is overwhelming. This tragedy of you leaving us so early in life has left us a huge void in our hearts that will never be whole again. I will miss you and your wonderful smile.

Last Thursday at your funeral I felt so proud that you devoted, accomplished and served our city with total dedication courageously. You fulfilled all your wants and dreams in being a New York City Police Officer.

I would like to take this time in “Thanking” your brothers and sisters in the elite Grand Larceny squad at Midtown North for their compassion, generosity and sincerity at our time of need.

Kevin, rest in peace - you will always in our thoughts.

Your Aunt and your cousin,

Kevin,

I love and miss you so much big cousin. I feel selfish in aching, because I know you are at peace with God, and I will see you again one day. Your funeral was so honorable and amazing. I know your nature is one of humbleness and you would have thought it grand. But you know what, you deserve it, you are a true American hero. I promise you to keep in touch with Jeanine and the family and to make sure our children get to know one another and see each other grow up.

See you in Heaven one day and MUCH Love, Angie

PS I promise to write to Erika, she is a lovely young lady.

Kevin, May you rest in peace. You gave your life in service to your fellow New Yorkers, and New York would not be safe and secure without you and the NYPD "The greatest Police Force in the world". As your uncle, I know the pride you have brought to your parents and to our family.

For the family of Kevin - we didn't have the honor of personally knowing Kevin - we knew Kevin through Cathy, Adam and Sara - we are sure he was a wonderful man based on knowing is family. Our thoughts and prayers are with you now through this very difficult time - we love you and hope that God will hold you close...and from a favorite poem - Footprints ...."My precious, precious child, I love you and I would never leave you. During your times of trial and suffering, when you see only one set of footprints, it was then that I carried you." May your burden be a little easier with God's help.

We struggle with the incomprehensible void your passing has left behind. Anyone who has met you will encounter a great soul with an incessant desire to live life joyfully and help the less fortunate do the same. We were part your wedding celebration and witnessed the happiness this union brought our families. The Christmas card you sent us just a month ago reminded my wife and I of that day and how happy you and your new bride were. While we grieve what we feel was an untimely conclusion to your life, we also thank God for blessing us with your brief company on this earth.

I am very proud to know that Kevin was once part of the Auxiliary Police family within the NYPD. I have spoken with several APs who worked with Kevin while he was at the 122 and they all say he was a great auxiliary. Ditto from the guys at his command at Manhattan North.Truly a hero of NYC. Rest in peace, brother.
