I will be wearing a memory riding bracelet with PO Kevin Lee's name. I am inquiring whether a member of PO Kevin Lee's family will be attending the ceremony in Washington D.C. on Sunday May 13th, 2007. "Father To Son"
I look into your eyes and all I see,
Is a small version of me.
You tell me you are scared that I want come home,
I will go to Heaven and leave you here all alone.

Every night you watch me put on my vest,
Making sure it covers all of my chest.
I leave and you start to cry,
Don't be scared; This Is Not Our Good-bye.

When I come home the next day,
First thing out of your mouth is "Come on Daddy Let's Play".
I am so tired from a night on the street,
But I never tell you "No son, Daddy is beat".

I watch you run with all your heart,
Watching you play is the best part.
You see Son, I am scared just like you,
For I am one of the guys dressed in Blue.

I spend most of my time putting bad guys in jail,
The rest of the time is hearing their family to "Go to Hell".
My job is to keep you safe at night,
Even if that means to give my life.

And if one night it is my time to die,
Do not be sad, Don't let Mama see you cry.
You have to be strong,
Because in you- my life will go on!

But I plan to be hear for years to come,
So we can sit down and talk- Father To Son!

WHENEVER I READ THIS POEM . I PICTURE YOU KEVIN . ADAM MISS U SO MUCH . AND WE MISS U TOO.
LOVE THE LAZHIR FAMILY.
Although I never met him, I knew him.
He was idealistic and believed he could make a difference.
He was immensely proud of the uniform and the badge and what
they represent.
He felt privileged to be of service to his department, his
community and to his country.

He was a cop.

Although I never met him, I knew him.
He was friendly, courteous, and polite, yet firm.
He laughed and joked, but was serious when necessary.
He was competent, trained, and professional.

He was a cop.

Although I never met him, I knew him.
He had a strong sense of right and wrong and became
frustrated when true justice became sidetracked.
He felt the sharp criticism that goes with the job, but he
never wavered.
He stood by and for his fellow officers.

He was a cop.

Although I never met him, I knew him.
He longed for his family during the long hours.
He worried about them during his shifts and the lonely
weekends, holidays and midnights when they were apart.
He felt guilty about the lost time, but knew his calling
and prayed they would understand.

He was a cop.

Although I never met him, I knew him.
He was a good son, a loving husband, and a devoted father.
He was dedicated to the profession and cared about the
people he served.
He wanted to do the best job that he could and strived to
be the best he could be.
He was a good citizen and a good neighbor.

He was a cop.

Yes, I did know him.
He was a cop, he was my Brother-in-law.

Officer Lee,

It was good to know you the brief time that I did.

In September 1991, my father's best friend, who shares your name, passed away. I'll never forget the look on my dad's face when he told me, and later I took a stab at putting some thoughts down about that day.

I can imagine similar faces this past January. May God bless you and your family.

"Life lay quiet,
as mist about, a blanket.
In the distance,
he looms silent,
as shoulders held the sky.

So he stood
amongst the clouds,
while skin lay taught
along stone bodies,
and still granite
flowed through veins.

Struck thunder
upon Earth's soul,
Heaven's skies,
provider of life.

Proud peaks
which once threw shadows,
slumped shoulders
as one mourns
the memory of a friend.

Defiant faces turn to sky,
as watered eyes
search through Heaven.
All the while,
the question why,
it had to be fine Kevin."

I'M WRIITIN U A POEM , FROM ADAM (YOUR SON),

"My Daddy couldn't be here, because he lives so far away.
But I know he wishes he could be, since this is such a special day.
And though you cannot meet him, I wanted you to know.
All about my daddy, and how much he loves me so
He loved to tell me stories.
He taught me to ride my bike.
He surprised me with pink roses, and taught me to fly a kite.
Cause my daddy's always with me, even though we are apart
I know because he told me, he'll forever be in my heart"
With that, hIS little hand reached up, and lay across his chest.
Feeling his own heartbeat, beneath his favorite suit.
And from somewhere here in the crowd of dads, his mother stood in tears.
Proudly watching her son, who was wise beyond his years.
For he stood up for the love of a man not in his life.
Doing what was best for him, doing what was right. And when he dropped his hand back down, staring straight into the crowd.
he finished with a voice so soft, but its message clear and loud.
"I love my daddy very much, he's my shining star.
And if he could, he'd be here, but heaven's just too far.
You see he was a policeman and died just this past year"
And a child was blessed, if only for a moment, by the love of his shining
star.
And given the gift of believing, that heaven is never too far.

They say it takes a minute to find a special person, an hour to appreciate
them,
a day to love them, but then an entire life to forget them.

ps. Kevin your son and the lazhir family miss u so much. we love u always and forever.
love Ashley lazhir (ur sis in law).
