Reflections for Officer Andrew Todd Stevens

Andy....this week is the 6 year mark of your passing. Last night a CHP officer was shot (thankfully not life threatening) and it brought up so many memories of you. You paid the ultimate price for our safety at the hands of someone who has no respect for our law enforcement.

Since you were my brother's best friend growing up I have SO many memories of you. Not a week passes when a thought of you doesn't go through my head, either from an old picture, seeing another CHP officer, etc. You are gone from this earth but most definitely not forgotten by the one's you left behind. You left a huge footprint my friend and it will remain always.

Your heroism and service is honored today, the fourth anniversary of your death. Your memory lives and you continue to inspire. Thank you for your service. My cherished son Larry Lasater was a fellow police officer murdered in the line of duty on April 24, 2005 while serving as a Pittsburg, CA police officer.

I have gotten to know your mother through Cops functions and she is a wonderful woman who loves and misses you very much. I pray for the solace of all those who care for you.

Andy, you are not going to believe this, but, it is going on four years this coming November since your last traffic stop in Woodland. Sometimes I wonder if our co-workers or the Auburn HOG chapter miss you more.

I've been to too many "Chippie" funerals but look forward to riding with you again in heaven one day. Keep an eye out for these brave guys n gals protecting our roads today. If you see Officer Hugo Olazar up there, please tell him I said hi and is missed too.

Andy. I met a few of those who loved you in DC a few years ago, and your life has forever been etched into my memory by those men. All of us celebrated the lives you and Daniel Golden (EOW 08/29/2005) lived that night in DC, and I relive those moments often, to myself, and to anyone who will listen. I wish I could have met you, I know you must have been an amazing person, I know this from the men who carry your memory.
I read a few of the reflections on your page and saw that your trial has also come to a conclusion with a guilty conviction. Golden's has as well, and I pray that this chapter in our lives brings all of your friends and family a little more peace. You are up there with our brother in blue Daniel Golden, one of my dearest friends personally and professionally. We recenly had another friend to join you all, Eric Freeman, another amazing man. When I think of Heaven, I cannot imagine greater men representing the Heaven I have always imagined as a child. My love to all of your family and friends that I know miss you dearly.

I saw on today's news that Officer Steven's murderer has been convicted and a jury recommended the death penalty. Hopefully, the family can now move forward with their lives, always remembering the man who gave so much of himself to his family and his community, finally making the ultimate sacrafice.

My hat is off to Officer Stevens and my heart to his wife and family.
