To Jonathan,

It is so sad that you perished in the line of duty - the duty that many do not understand as being primarily a protector of us civilians. A man who truly believed in his profession and what it meant is gone but not forgotten.

God bless you, Jon.

Dear Jon,
I can still remember the first time I met you. I was a brand new Patrolman and you were at one of those countless wrecks that HP and SPD hopes belongs to the other. Well anyway we started talking and I found out through you about your life. How you were once a member of the Citadel, and you decided to move on to law enforcement at Sumter S.O. We quickly find out that we knew the same people and respected them greatly. What I remember most about you are the times that you and I just happened to meet at the Sumter High dirt track where I lived with Quiroz. You and I would run around that darn track forever and after we were done you would light up a cigarette and reinterate how you needed to quit. Sometimes through out the time I knew you you would actually quit smoking. You once told me you were trying to get to "ACERT". I will say that we will all miss the person we all knew as Jon. But one day we will all see again the wonderful soul who is Jon. To all of my old law enforcement friends in SC, miss you all and all is well. Be careful out there.

I have several friends in different aspects of Law Enforcement and all too often we assume there will be a tomorrow to say the things we need to say. To Trooper Parker and those that have gone before him, to Trooper Parkers family, to the SCHP Troop One, and to many men and women who continue to put your lives on the line for us....THANK YOU.

DEPUTY SHERIFF OHIO

To the family of Trooper Parker, I would like to say God bless you. I will keep you in my thoughts and prayer. My brother was the Richland County Deputy that was killed in the crash on May 4, so I understand your pain. Be strong and God will help you through this difficult time. If ever you need someone to talk to, my family and I are here. I think we could help each other through both of our families' losses.

Jon,
I saw many officers come and go through the years I was at the PD; you were truly one of the good guys working the road. I remember the many conversations we had and the calls you backed me or one of my officers on just to make sure we were ok until our city backup arrived. Words can not express the sorrow I feel at the moment. God bless and comfort your family through this time. My thoughts and prayers are with them because I know you are taken care of. Watch over all the others who have answered the call to be a professional peace officer. You will never be forgotten.
