We started dating 15 years ago today. I could never have imagined on that night what was to come. I'll always treasure the memories I have of you.

Although certain people have been a disappointment to Cody, I promise you he will always be the center of my world.

Love you and miss you always

I first met Officer Lasater in 2000. I knew him as Captain Lasater (USMC) and he was my series Commander when I was in Marine Corps boot camp in San Deigo. I had the pleasure of being re-aquainted with Capt. Lasater in 2004 when he was assigned to the Tank Unit I was in and as my platoon commander. Capt. Lasater was an outstanding Marine and who thought "outside the box" and was always teaching his troops ways to better themselves. Capt Lasater always had time for anyone that needed help and did not place the title of his rank above the huge responsibilites that it carried. Capt. Lasater was the single best Marine Officer that I served under. I learned of his death while I was deployed in Iraq and it saddened me to no end. I have since hung up my pack and now where the star of a Deputy Sheriff. I am blessed to have know this great man and know the world is slightly less better without him in it. I often pray for his family and hope they are doing well. Semper FI Sir!!!!

Phyllis,
I am very honored to read your passages to the families of fallen heros. I believe that you are a wonderful person. I did not know your son but I have lost fellow officers in the line of duty, some good friends. May God bless you and your family.

I have laid down my life in service to all of you.
I have been a part of the fabric that has held the line between your safety and your victimization.
As I now become a part of the rich history of law enforcement, please remember me always for I have left behind those who loved and depended upon me.
I have given my life so that others may live in peace.
My partners and my agency, please remember my family, their loss, and don’t let time soften your compassion for them.
You guard the gate now and I will continue my watch from above.

I spent the last week with your son at COPS camp in Wisconsin as his mentor. This is the second year he was in my cabin. You should be proud he is a nice young man. Your wife is doing a good job with him.

I never know when you will pop up into my thoughts. I don't even know why. I suppose that is just a mystery of this world, and a testament to the impression that you made. I have said it before here and will continue to. There was just something about your character, people knew they could trust you and count on you.

Semper Fi Marine.

As a Deputy two counties over was killed yesterday and word spreads there are many things on my mind. One is that I hope Gods mercy is with his family, another that it is with yours and the family of every other name on this list. One thing I do not question though is that I am making the right call falling in your footsteps though it will be some big boots to fill. Phyillis and JoAnn I prey God will continue to aswage your anguish and bring to mind only the happy memories of the loved and lost, and the solom pride that I know is yours to have laid so costly a sacrifice upon the altar of freedom.

Ms. Phyllis Loya, I just wanted to say thank you for your post on my cousin James A. Lovelace's page. I know it has been a while since you posted but I was unaware of the page until just tonight. It so touched my heart to read the posts there & see his service and sacrifice was appreciated by others. I read the post over the phone to his mother & we shead tears together as it is just a week before the 30th anniversary of his death. I also want to say thanks & convey my utmost respect to your son for his services to our country. May he rest in peace. While they are gone from us in body they live on in our hearts forever!

Lar-

Been thinking about you a lot lately! I wish you could see how much fun Cody and Luke have playing together. Everytime I see it, it gets me deep! I don't think people realize how hard this is on us....i guess thats the way it has to be! Doesn't seem fair to be complaining though.....no worries, "Good to Go"!

Remembering you and your family today for the sacrifice you made as a Law officer and serving in the military. We enjoy our freedom because of those sacrifices you and others make. It is evident by the other comments you were a very honorable man. May we never lose site of those who live and die for our communities and country.
I pray for your son as one day he will know his DAD is a Hero. May you be honored in a special way today as we celebrate our freedom.

Mrs. Loya,

I am truly inspired and humbled by the messages you leave and the kindness and respect you show for these officers and their families. I cannot imagine what you have gone through...I often come to this website and to your son's page because it is a reminder to be grateful for every day and to remember that the freedom I and my family enjoy is possible only because of men and women like your son who put on police and military uniforms every day.

I am the son of a retired New Jersey State Police Trooper and have many family members who were or are "on the job." It is my honor and privilege to serve and support the members of the Pennsylvania State Police as a civilian employee of that agency.

I struggle to find words to express my respect and gratitude for the officers and their families who have given their all, because when an officer passes, an entire family suffers. Please know that the posts you leave and the respect you show makes a difference. You and your family are in my prayers.

Sincerely and respectfully given.

Deer Phyllis Loya, I am sorry for the loss of your son and I thank him for his service to his Country as well as to his community. I read the post you left on my Uncle Rich Lendell PPPD page. It is very supportive that we have this page to remember our tight family on the blue line. I always try to "reach-out" to other family members. We will NEVER forget our heroes. Again my family thanks you for your post, This past October the Philadelphia Police Department set a plaque of remembrance near the spot where Rich fell, he will now always be thought of. " Thanks " is not enough to say for a man who gave it all to protect the citizens of his community and the way of life that we as Americans cherish. They say when a person joins the Military, they write a personal check to the people of the United States for an amount "up to and including my life." It seems he also wrote that same check in defense of his community and "Thanks" is never enough. Rest in peace, brother. Your son was born the same month I became a Deputy. Heres to hoping he is the spittin image of you....

In leaving a reflection today for Patrolman Leon Scott, I read this beautiful quote and wanted to post it on your page.

~~~When Tomorrow Starts Without Me~~~
When tomorrow starts without me, and I'm not there to see; If the sun should rise and find your eyes all filled with tears for me; I wish so much you wouldn't cry the way you did today, while thinking of the many things we didn't get to say. I know how much you love me, as much as I love you, and each time you think of me I know you'll miss me too; But when tomorrow starts without me, try to understand, that an angel came and called my name and took me by the hand, and said my place was ready in Heaven far above, and that I'd have to leave behind all those I dearly love. But as I turned to walk away, a tear fell from my eye, for all my life, I'd always thought I didn't want to die. I had so much to live for and so much yet to do, it seemed almost impossible that I was leaving you. I thought of all the yesterdays, the good ones and the bad, I thought of all the love we shared and all the fun we had. If I could relive yesterday, I thought, just for a while, I'd say good-bye and kiss you and maybe see you smile. But then I fully realized that this could never be, for emptiness and memories would take the place of me. And when I thought of worldly things I'd miss come tomorrow, I thought of you, and when I did, my heart was filled with sorrow. But when I walked through Heaven's gates, I felt so much at home. When God looked down and smiled at me, From His great golden throne, He said, "This is eternity and all I've promised you. Today for life on earth is past but here it starts anew. I promise no tomorrow, but today will always last, and since each day's the same day, there's no longing for the past. But you have been so faithful, so trusting and so true. Though there were times you did some things you knew you shouldn't do. But you have been forgiven and now at last you're free, so won't you take my hand and share my life with me?" So when tomorrow starts without me, don't think we're far apart, for every time you think of me, I'm right there in your heart.
You are forever in my heart, my beloved son.
Will the bagpipers play on my funeral day? Will a sea of blue stretch down this long road? As Harleys rumble by and choppers thunder overhead, it is the sweet sounds of the bagpipers that I hear instead.
All have come here to pay their respects. To listen to the story of the brave act I did. Worry not for me because I'll be all right. It is my wife who needs comfort through these long and lonely nights. Who will teach my boy what is to be a man? It is my family that needs you now, for I am at rest. Let it be known that I worked with the best.
I did not live the longest of lives, nor one of great wealth. It is the sacrifice I made that put me high upon this shelf. Treated as a pauper in life but as a king in death, all I did was my job like so many had before.
So when you go to drink to comfort your way, remember what it is that I have to say.
When you raise your glass in memory of my name, know you are my brother for you would have done the same. It is only we who run toward what others run from. Now I run no more, for my work is done.
As this wooden vessel carries my body through this sea of blue, listen for the bagpipers and hear what they play.
For it is their sweet music that carries my soul today. - UNK
I will never fotget that when your headstone arrived for your grave and your family met there to view its placement, a bagpiper who was playing for a funeral later that day was in the cemetery practicing. Definitely a sign.
Loving you always, Mom
Lt Laseter. I had the honor of serving in the USMC with you years ago, as well as being in your Platoon. I will never forget my time in 1st Platoon all those years ago as a Corporal. You were the finest example of a Marine Officer I have ever met. I would follow you anywhere.
