Reflections for Police Officer Steven Michael Zourkas

Steve,
Mike and I were just talking about you buddy. Remember when I was by myself in a foot chase of the vehicular hijacker. You drove up the lawn in your squad to block the guy and we took him into custody. You were worried that you would get in trouble for driving on the lawn. We had a good laugh. You are still in our thoughts.

Uncle Steve,
Hey Uncle Steve! Sorry I haven't left you anything here I just came across it, I would have been writing to you long before. A couple of weeks ago a guy backed into me and left a dent & crack on the truck so we had to file a police report. When the policemen came they asked about the sticker for you & how I knew you. I wanted you to know that everyone has been thinking about you and not just me. I know you were watching out for me and that's why nothing serious happened with the accident. School, sports, friends, and work have been good. I just saw Andrew recently, and I almost called him Steven. He is a beautiful little boy. I can't believe how big he is getting so fast! He is so fun to play with once he warms up to people. We always hide from each other and then laugh like crazy. I wanted to tell you that I think about you everyday and miss you, but I'm sure you know that. I love you more than anything!

Love always,
Lauren

Steve,
I was doing some ET work the other day and started thinking about the good times we used to have on midnights. We sure did laugh a lot. Just had to let you know that you are still in my thoughts, and always will be. In fact, I was laughing so loud that someone asked me what was so funny. "Thinking about Steve" I said. Before I knew it, 5 or 6 of us were standing around talking about the good old days. Thanks for the memories.

Hey Uncle Steve--I'm actually away at college right now and I was asked to write a Tribute speech in one of my courses, of course you popped into my head and I knew that I would speak about you. There are so many things about your personality, how you lived your life, and how you cared so deeply for others that deserve tribute. I wanted you to know that I am thinking about you and am very excited to share you, this great man, to the rest of my classmates, hoping to inspire at least one person with what you have left behind. Love you!

Today I got pulled over for speeding and the cop saw your police badge sticker on my car and asked me if I had a family member or friend that was a cop and I told him about you. So the cop let me go because of you steve. Steve you amaze me even from heaven you are still getting me out of my tickets. I miss you so very much and think about you everyday. I love you.

Officer Zourkas,

I had the wonderful opportunity to meet your loving family recently as we are preparing to have a dedication ceremony for you at our school. Our students will forever be reminded of your courage, service, and leadership qualities each time they pass the memorial that your family has so lovingly prepared. We, at Golf Middle School, are so honored to have your memorial forever on our property and more honored to have you as an alumus.

Sincerely,
Keith Westman
