Reflections for Sergeant Kevin Scott Kight

Laughter Dries The Tears

Dear God, how could this tragedy be?
For the lost of this man, the likes of he
A hero, standing proud and tall
Why must the hero, be made to fall?

Sir, you were a hero before the 27th of March
The job you did, not many can hold that torch
It takes a special breed, with a willing heart
To stand strong, when the danger starts

I pray for your family, to hold them together
You may be gone now, but not forever
In their hearts, you are alive within
And one day in Heaven, you will meet again

Little buddy, I cried for you so much
I'm so sorry, you're outside your daddy's touch
He'll be with you always, and all the times you miss
As the wind hits your cheek, I can see him blowing a kiss

I felt your heart, in all the things I read
In between the lines, so much can be said
I pray in time, passing with the years
As the good times are remembered, may laughter dry the tears

Henry V's St. Crispian Speech
by William Shakespeare

This day is called the feast of Crispian:
He that outlives this day, and comes safe home,
Will stand a tip-toe when the day is named,
And rouse him at the name of Crispian.
He that shall live this day, and see old age,
Will yearly on the vigil feast his neighbours,
And say 'To-morrow is Saint Crispian:'
Then will he strip his sleeve and show his scars.
And say 'These wounds I had on Crispin's day.'
Old men forget: yet all shall be forgot,
But he'll remember with advantages
What feats he did that day: then shall our names.
Familiar in his mouth as household words
Harry the king, Bedford and Exeter,
Warwick and Talbot, Salisbury and Gloucester,
Be in their flowing cups freshly remember'd.
This story shall the good man teach his son;
And Crispin Crispian shall ne'er go by,
From this day to the ending of the world,
But we in it shall be remember'd;
We few, we happy few, we band of brothers;
For he to-day that sheds his blood with me
Shall be my brother; be he ne'er so vile,
This day shall gentle his condition:
And gentlemen in England now a-bed
Shall think themselves accursed they were not here,
And hold their manhoods cheap whiles any speaks
That fought with us upon Saint Crispin's day.

May GOD watch over you and your family.

You have my prayers, and I wish you peace, even if in small doses at first. My son, Officer Daniel Stanley MacClary, died in the line of duty 9/27/00 in Hendersonville, TN. No way will your loss ever get easy, however it does become bearable somewhat. I hope you can hang in and let God wrap his Angels around your shoulders and around your daughter's shoulders.....so you can feel comforted and know you are not alone. My granddaughter lives in Panama City Beach, and she was 12 when her Daddy died. It is hard for her, of course. Her Mom and I try to keep the lines of communication open for her. I am so sorry for your loss. If you wish mail for your daughter, I will be happy to help. My friends gathered together and sent books (funny ones), cards, wrote notes, etc. It helped Danielle during the initial shock of losing her Dad. This website has my email, if I can do anything for you. I wish I could take some of the hurt away. God Bless both of you.

Somebody Killed A Policeman Today

Somebody killed a policeman today, and
A part of America died.
A piece of our country he swore to protect
Will be buried with him at his side.
The suspect who shot him will stand up in court,
With counsel demanding his rights,
While a young widowed mother must work for her kids
And spend alone many long nights.
The beat that he walked was a battlefield, too.
Just as if he'd gone off to war.
Though the flag of our nation won't fly at halfmast,
To his name, they will add a gold star.
Yes, somebody killed a policeman today.
It happen in your town or mine.
While we slept on comfort behind our locked doors,
A cop put his life on the line.
Now his ghost walks a beat on a dark city street,
And he stands at each new rookie's side.
He answered the call and gave us his all,
And a part of America died.
