Reflections for Sergeant Kevin Scott Kight

I did not know Sgt Kight personally, but as a deputies wife, I know you are a true hero. Watch over your brothers and sisters of law enforcement, for now you are their angel. I pray for your family during this time of sorrow. Tell Blake hello for us his end of watch was 2-24-05. Rest in peace and God Speed.

To the family, friends and co-workers my prayers are with you. I wish there was some magic words that I could say to help you during this nightmare, but as we all know there is nothing. The one thing that help me was knowing that Clint loved being a police officer, and helping people was his dream. As I've read through the many tributes left for Sergeant Kight, I can tell that he loved being a police officer also.
To the family we only live in Ft. Walton Beach, we will see you soon I hope. We can talk about our boys all we want, I have lots of memories and I know you do too.
Sergeant Kight your brothers in Blue caught the jerk that did this to you, and we will all fight to keep him behind bars.
Kevin your family will miss you everyday, but we will never forget you.

Look Clint up for me, tell him I miss him and think about him everyday.

A PRAYER FOR THE PEACE OFFICER

THE NIGHT PULLS ITS SHADE DOWN.
THE STARS ARE TWINKLING; THE MOON SHINES ON THE WORLD LIKE A FLASHLIGHT.
I AM ALONE AGAIN.

I DON'T LIKE BEING ALONE..I BELIEVE THE
NIGHT IS FOR THE LOVERS OF THE WORLD, TO SIT TOGETHER, TALK OR SIP CAMOMILE TEA...AND THEN TO MAKE LOVE TO THE SOUND OF 'RIPPLIN' WATERS'..*

BUT AS IT IS, I SIT HERE ALONE, WAITING FOR HIM.

MY CHILDREN ARE ASLEEP, GOD BLESS THEM, THEY HAVE NO WORRIES.

I STAND OVER THEM AND LISTEN TO THEIR SOFT BREATHS AS THE SANDMAN TAKES OVER FOR ME.

IT MAKES MY HEART QUICKEN TO SEE HOW THEY HAVE GROWN!

THEY ARE TRULY THE LIGHT OF OUR LIVES!

THE HOURS DRONE ON..I WAIT STILL..

MY WORRYING WILL DO ME IN.

I DREAM OF A KNOCK AT THE DOOR AND A UNIFORM TELLING ME MY LIFE HAS JUST ENDED.

BUT DID I HEAR THE SLAM OF A DOOR?

THE JINGLE OF KEYS IS DISTINCT, HIS FOOTSTEPS ARE ON THE STAIRS, AND HERE IS THE WONDERFUL CIRCLE OF STRONG ARMS..

MY LOVE IS HOME!

THANK YOU, GOD!

Heros never really know they are heros. As you my brother didn't. You were strenght, when so many of us felt week. You were laughter, when so my of us couldn't smile. You were the sun, when all we saw was rain. You my brother where a true man and hero.
God needed you now to make the angles laugh,as you often made us laugh. I will always rememmber who you are. You live on. Not in body. You are the groud we walk on. We're going to hold your memmory in our hearts no matter what ground we walk on where ever we go. Your spirit is the ocean running free but always coming home with every wave. You will always come back to comfort at your home. You are the sky and air above us. When we breath deep we will feel comfort through you, when we feel the air on our cheeks its you touching them to let us know all will be o.k. For you have been chosen to fly with special guardian angels that look out for us. To become a guardian is to know one to the deepest. This is how you kow sui. I only hope as your sister I will have the courage to show your son your half the love, integrity, kindness, and passion as you had in life. If I can just show half of what you had, I will be an incredible person. Love your sis of the badge, Kelly B. # 203

I heard of Sergeant Kight's death when I called to tell my brother of a fallen officer in Louisville, Ky. My brother knew Sergeant Kight through an off duty job. This is a difficult time for Panama City Beach and the entire law enforcement community. May you have peace in knowing that your brother in now patroling the streets of heaven and keeping them safe for you. May Sergeant Kight rest in peace - you will never be forgotten.

Kevin, With me being 17, not many people think that a 34 year old would associate with someone of my status. However, you were different. You were very kind and helping towards me and I am proud to say you were an influence on me. When you were on my dad's shift, I got to experience your skills at work and you were all that you could be. You were and still are a very important person in my, and my father, #30's life, along with the rest of the department. You were a great man and always raised spirits of everyone around you and you could ALWAYS make people laugh. And we will all miss you and I hope you are watching over us. #18, Always and Forever!!!! We miss you greatly!!!!

When I awoke that morning to a phone call that i will never forget...A Fellow Officer has been shot and killed and only a few miles from my home. Your day begins then before the sun has risen and you have all of the questions racing through you mind with no answers to follow them...As the hours passed and the suspect was in jail, time seem to stand still for just a few minutes when I reflected on working with Kevin...You think of the good times and the laughs you shared and you think of his family and friends...When Thursday came and it was time Kevin to lay you in your final resting place I felt that it was an HONOR to stand beside you in that church and to guard you as the fellow officers came into pay their last respects...It was an HONOR to salute your family as they came in and to shake little Brandons hand..It was an HONOR to fold the flag that draped your casket...Kevin I want you to know that it was an HONOR to work with you in the law enforcement community as a whole and it is an HONOR to have you watching over us from above while you patrol the streets of heaven...YOU WILL NEVER BE FORGOTTEN...Thank you for everything you done for this community and for your time well served...rest now, you deserve it, OUR GUARDIAN ANGEL.

I had the privilege of working with many of the Panama City Beach Police Officers over the last 20 years. I met Sgt. Kight on a couple occassions and found he posssessed the utmost integrity, professionalism and pride for his career, his department and his community. I now manage a security company based in Bay County, Florida. The majority of our contracts are on Panama City Beach. My employees deal with Panama City Beach Officers daily. The Loss of Sgt. Kight was personal for them. Every employee felt his loss was our own. Each employee of our staff wears a mourning band over their badge to show our sorrow over this incident. As a former law enforcement officer, I feel the sorrow of his family. Our prayers go out to each and everyone that was affected by this tragedy. To Brandon his son, know that your father gave the ultimate sacrifice. Sgt. Kight is and will always be my hero. We will miss him dearly.

Kevin was a great dad, husband, uncle, son, brother, brother-in-law, son-in-law, nephew, friend, and police officer. You can probably throw in some more things that he was good at too. He was always quick to make you laugh and try to make you feel comfortable around him. I only got to know him for a short time and I regret not having had more opportunities to know him better. As a fellow law enforcement officer and family member I only hope that I can honor his memory and set as good an example as he did.

He was loved and he will be greatly missed. Thank you Kevin for what you shared and what you sacrificed.

Sgt. Kight, Working with him in Germantownship as he started his journey of a police officer was a great chance for me to witness first hand how a perfect mold should be of an officer, and that mold is Sgt. Kight. I worked with him for 4 years and there was never a dull moment, with his smile his laughs, and his seriousness, I learned more from being in the same room as him than I ever did being in the acadmey. Sgt. Kight while at German Township Police Springfield Ohio was a role model for children as well as adults, he received numerous awards, one being a life saving award saving a 3 year old boy from drowning. Kevin will be missed by all here in Springfield, but never forgotten, God has him now and holding him close because he knows the sacrafice Kevin made. The fondest memory is seeing the brotherhood at the funeral of hundreds of officers coming together and crying, laughing, and remebering, God Bless PCBPD and all around.
