Reflections for Police Officer Peter Alan Grignon

It really hurts me deep every time another name is added to this list. You will not be forgotten and will be missed by all in the law enforcement community.

Sgt. Paul George
Houston Police Department

Our thoughts and prayers go out to Officer Grignon's family as well as his brothers and sisters in arms. I hope all will realize that the ultimate sacrifice does not go unrecognized nor is it unappreciated. There is no greater love than one who would lay down their lives to protect and serve the greater good. God bless and keep you all during this difficult time.

My Hero

Standing so tall
So strong, so brave
Waking up, putting your uniform on
That changes you so much
Doing your job the best way you can
Caring for these people in this world
That sometimes hate you so much
People cuss at you, shoot you
Trying to destroy your life
But you don't let them
You fight as hard as you can
For your kids, for your husband or your wife
You keep going when things get rough
You're always there
Protecting, serving
Is what you do
You're my hero
The one I look up to
I cry when some creep kills you
For some stupid reason
But you will never been forgotten
And you will always be my hero

Your family is continually lifted in my prayers. We are saddened by the events surrounding your son's, husband's, brother's tragic death. My husband is a Deputy Sheriff and we lost a sister tragically last year. Cherish every memory and remember he is with you, in a different way, but he is with you. Reach out to those who shared his life, for they will hold you up during this time. Talk about him--introduce him to strangers that never had the opportunity to meet him. He lived a special life, as he chose to protect and serve his community, a committment few will make. Take pride in the stories people will tell of how he touched their lives, for he touched many. God bless you during this most difficult time.

Rest in Peace BROTHER in BLUE:

Here is a small part of something I have written:

When most would be running away from danger, my job requires me to run towards it. I do this in the hopes of making a difference for someone I may not even know. Don't they understand what I am willing to sacrifice to Serve and Protect the citizens in our community? Monetary gains, could never compensate someone who risks their life and faces danger for people they may never know?

Though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death and though I mark on duty, my calls unknown, I fear no evil, for the majority are with me, nor do I worry of my own safety, all of this I do for the citizens of my community. An Officers family can be filled with worry and though they are strong, they know that their loved one may be placed in harms way. Through this, they stand tall, with Pride, Integrity and Honor.

Though I have made mistakes, accept me, as I accept you and show me the way ?..Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy Name, thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, forever and ever. Amen.

To the members of the Louisville Metro Police Dept. stand tall, comfort one another and know that your job matters and is appreciated by the vast majority of people you serve.

To all Officers, risking your life for the benefit of others and who are trying to make a difference, may god bless and keep you safe, for you are the pillar of stability in our community, the keepers of our safety and the ones who we will call if we ever need help. Hug your family, for they are the strength behind you, which allows you to endure. Lift your head high, knowing you have done your job well with Pride, Integrity and Honor.

To the young man involved, I can only ask "why", why take the life of another and why take your own young life? You must answer for what you have done, I can only hope that your family can find peace.

Robert Craig
Boone County Sheriff (Indiana)
