In reading the entries from so many, it is plain to see that Ofc. Bryant was a hero in every sense of the word. Rest in peace, Sir. I will be proud to meet you some day.

Scott,
When we are little, we think of what a HERO is and does. He is someone who saves the day, who saves people and who are there in critical moments. I cannot think of you and your actions as anything but HEROIC. You met all the criteria for being a HERO in my book.
I hope when children think of what a HERO is, you will come to mind. There for others, selfless service, driven to take care of others. Thank you for helping define what HERO is. You will never be forgotten.
To Scott's Family,
I pray that God may take you into His loving arms and comfort you when you need it most. I pray that you will always reflect back and see that Scott is a real HERO and I hope that gives you some comfort. God Bless you all.

My sympathy and prayers to out to the Bryant family. I did not know him personally but I have a family member that was good friends with him and from what I heard from him he was a great guy and I am sure there is a spot in heaven for Scott Bryant. Thanks for being everyones hero.

I've sat down to write this many times and I am not able to come up with the words to truely describe what a great friend and person Scott was. You will always be missed and before you know it we'll all be back together again cracking those throttles on the Harley's. I love you Brother, rest in peace!

Micki,

As a fallen officer survivor from Iowa I just wanted to offer my condolences again. I no longer live in Iowa, but I hold it and the people in it, close to my heart. I just thought I'd let you know that I will be in Iowa from November 5th - 14th visiting Dennis' children, family, and friends. I have plans to meet up with another fallen officer survivor from Iowa while I'm down and if you have some free time we would love to have you join us for coffee or something. Sometimes it helps to talk to people who've been through what you've been through. If you are available and interested you can call the Davis County Law Center and leave a message for me with your contact info. They'll be able to get the message to me.

Take care of yourself and if you ever need anything you now know how to reach me.

Wishing you better and brighter days,

Jocelyne

I would like to thank everyone who has left a reflection on this page. I am Scott's wife. I miss him terrible everyday, but it sure makes it easier to go on knowing what a hero he was, not just in my eyes, or the eyes of our two daughters, Brooke and Bailie. Thank you again for all of the prayers and support all have given to us.

"Officer Bryant, seeing the car approaching, pushed another correctional officer out of the way a split second before being struck, saving the officer's life."

What a hero and example for all of us to follow! I pray for your family and hope they can take comfort in knowing your last act on this Earth was heroic and unselfish. God Bless!

Please remember the fallen officers we have lost. Remember the men and women who died trying to make this world a safer and better place for us all to live in. Thank you Correctional Officer Bryant for a job well done. Please continue to watch over us and protect us as only you can. You will forever be at our side and in our hearts.

For those of you who still have loved ones with us please take the time to tell them how much you appreciate and care about them.

IF I KNEW

If I knew it would be the last time
That I'd see you fall asleep,
I would tuck you in more tightly
and pray the Lord, your soul to keep.

If I knew it would be the last time
that I see you walk out the door,
I would give you a hug and kiss
and call you back for one more.

If I knew it would be the last time
I'd hear your voice lifted up in praise,
I would video tape each action and word,
so I could play them back day after day.

If I knew it would be the last time,
I could spare an extra minute
to stop and say "I love you,"
instead of assuming you would KNOW I do.

If I knew it would be the last time
I would be there to share your day,
Well I'm sure you'll have so many more,
so I can let just this one slip away.

For surely there's always tomorrow
to make up for an oversight,
and we always get a second chance
to make everything just right.

There will always be another day
to say "I love you,"
And certainly there's another chance
to say our "Anything I can do?"

But just in case I might be wrong,
and today is all I get,
I'd like to say how much I love you
and I hope we never forget.

Tomorrow is not promised to anyone,
young or old alike,
And today may be the last chance
you get to hold your loved one tight.

So if you're waiting for tomorrow,
why not do it today?
For if tomorrow never comes,
you'll surely regret the day,

That you didn't take that extra time
for a smile, a hug, or a kiss
and you were too busy to grant someone,
what turned out to be their one last wish.

So hold your loved ones close today,
and whisper in their ear,
Tell them how much you love them
and that you'll always hold them dear

Take time to say "I'm sorry,"
"Please forgive me," "Thank you," or "It's okay."
And if tomorrow never comes,
you'll have no regrets about today.

My fiance, Dennis McElderry, was the first law enforcement casualty of 2003. Dennis was a Deputy Sheriff with the Davis County Sheriff's Office in southeast Iowa. Dennis died doing a job he loved, just as I'm sure Scott did. It saddens me to know that Dennis was not the first to die in the line of duty, nor will he and Scott be the last to die this way.

Having gone through the pain of losing Dennis I can truly understand and feel the pain that Correctional Officer Bryant's family, friends, and co-workers must be feeling. My heart goes out to you all, especially to his wife. No one can truly understand the pain of our loss until they've walked in our shoes. I wish I could give you a few words of wisdom to help you through this tough time, but there isn't anything I can really say or do to make the situation better. Just know that my thoughts are with you.

Please accept my condolences on behalf of the McElderry family and remember that Scott is part of huge law enforcement family. If you ever need anything any number of them will be there for you (as I've quickly found out!) From reading the many reflections posted here, I am certain Scott was well respected and well loved.

Thank you Correctional Officer Bryant for a job well done and for helping to make this world a safer place for us all. Please say "hello" to my fiance Dennis for me.

Peace, Love, Luck, and Happiness!

To the Bryant Family,

Our pain at the loss is great, but nothing in comparison to the grief you feel.

The image that Scott left for our department is a living memorial to the high standards that we should all strive for as department employees and as human beings.

He was one of us and we mourn with you.

We were saddened to hear of the loss of one of the family in Iowa. Although we did not know Officer Bryant personally, he showed that he is a true hero. His last act was to save the life of a fellow officer. There is no greater dedication to duty, than to lay down your life for another. On behalf of the men and women of the Fairfield Police Department, God bless Officer Bryant, his family and his fellow officers.
