I remember that day like it was yesterday...such a sad, terrible day...and it brings tears to my eyes again just thinking about it. Reading the love here on this page that everyone felt/feels for you and knowing that we all think about you every day, not just one day a year...I know you are watching over us...God Bless you and all others in the line of duty..

Bruce,

Eight years has brought about many changes for me both personally and professionally. I find telling others about you and the impact you had on my life as my therapy. Your ability to make the most stressful situations humorous has been placed onto my duty belt as a means to get safely through these calls.

The joys of the schedule this career brings forth will prevent me from making the memorial lunch. I will be celebrating a wedding this weekend of one of the officers I trained after your passing. I have a lot of respect for him in that he never met you, but still makes a point to treat all memorial events associated with your memory as a priority.

Well I will celebrate this day and grieve as I always do….you know that you are still missed EVERYDAY and HEROS LIVE FOREVER!!!!

Sara and I finally made the trip to DC this year for police week. It was amazing; I could not believe the emotions that came over me when I first saw your name engraved on the memorial. All the bad memories came back at first and then it was like I heard your voice saying, “Heh, stop it, I am ok where I am now.” As the days and years pass I think a lot of what would law enforcement be like in Green Lake County if Bruce was still here. I guess we will never know.
There is one thing that I do know; the community has been great in supporting the Bruce Williams Memorial Scholarship Foundation. Since your death we have raised monies to send young adults onto school for all sorts of things from law enforcement to nursing. I just wanted to tell you that our family was honored to have our niece, Allison Yonke selected for your scholarship this year. I promise you that she will represent your name with honor.
It has been a long time since I have been on this page, but something told me that I should send you a message. Please watch over us as we continue our paths down life. Until we meet again.

Such senseless tragedy yet again so close to home brings back so many memories. The smiles you created, the laughs you elicited, the countless stories, the endless caring, followed by tears & reminiscing about what once was. Once a hero always a hero, you are forever in our hearts! Welcome brother Craig Birkholz home and teach him the ropes up there. Miss you.

I came across your name somewhere on this site among the many pages of heroes and wanted to stop and leave a reflection. I know that those that love your dearly continue to carry your precious memories in their hearts and the silent tears still fall when one of those past memories of you enters their minds. Continue to watch over all of your loved ones, protect them from harm and let them feel your presence so they know you are still near. You will never be forgotten.

You are a hero and always in my thoughts.
I see your girls around town and they are growing so fast. It is hard to believe that it has been 7 years. It feels like yesterday I stood outside St Stan's.
I know you watch over your fellow brothers and sisters of blue. Please watch over me.
Gone but NEVER forgotten!

Bruce, It is hard to believe it has been 7 years since I've heard your voice or seen your face. Nancy and I went last night to hear Michael talk about you to a group of people from Jefferson County. We laughed and cried. You truly are our hero. I miss you so much!

Oh how much was taken from us 7 years ago! A hero for so many! You would be so proud to see the scholarship recipients. So many kids in the community driven to make a difference because of you! Missing you Bruce but knowing you were instrumental in guiding Tim and Brady home. Doesn't seem like 6 years but I know you haven't missed a moment of our lives.

Mike, Bruce and Rick,

Just wanted to let you guys know the End of Watch Memorial Golf Outing went off without a hitch again. It was a perfect day for golf, always is, and Tuscumbia Country Club was in perfect condition. 155 golfers, who would have thought that in only 5 years we are turning golfers away because they done make the courses any bigger!

I want you guys to know that you were in everybody’s thoughts and prayers that day, as always, and the stories were flying (most of them true!). Thanks for watching over us.
