As Thanksgiving is upon us, I have to look at all the things I have to be thankful for. Knowing you and working with you is one of the greatest blessings I've ever had in my life. You and Bryce have shown us all how we should live. You are remembered my friend. Your work here on earth is still going on, as your memory is still changing the way we live.

You will never be forgten and I know you are still watching over us. It has been three years now and I remeber that day like it was yesterday. I pray that the men and women here at the Greenville County Sheriff's Office feel your presence everyday.

We will never forget you or your sacrifice!

August 17, 2006

To the family and loved ones of Deputy Sheriff Andrew John Mazur, his Citadel brothers and fellow officers with the Greenville County Sheriff's Department:

On this the third anniversary of Drew's tragic death, I wanted to honor and remember him today. Drew's professionalism and dedication will never be forgotten, nor will his valor and courage.

When I saw Drew's picture on his memorial page, I instantly knew that he was a Citadel graduate. Drew is another of a long list of Citadel graduates who have distinquished themselves by serving their country in many different ways.

In reading the loving reflections left by his friends and co-workers I can see that he was very well respected and is sorely missed. I hope that God is holding him in the sweetest part of his heart and the most gentle part of his soul.

I am so sorry that Drew was robbed of his life so young and so tragically, but through his heroism and the profound sense of duty with which he lived his life, he made an immeasurable difference. He lived a life of purpose. May his spirit continue to soar and may his memory continue to inspire.

This reflection is sent with the utmost respect for the dedicated service Drew gave to his community and the citizens of South Carolina, and for the supreme sacrifice he and his family made on August 17, 2003.

Your loved ones are in my thoughts on this 3rd anniversary of your end of watch. I know their pain and the many tears that they have shared together and alone. You will never be forgotten by those that love you nor will the Blue Family ever let your name be forgotten. Heroes never die. Keep watch over your loved ones, wrap your wings around them and help them with their grief. Also, keep watch over those still out on patrol over the Thin Blue Line.

Drew was one of the best friends a person could have going through high school. I will miss him. Everyone should have had a chance to meet him because he was one of the best people I have ever known.

But when Roll Call in Heaven he's called to attend,
Those Legions of Angles, those Guardians of Men...

To honor this man who lived to defend.

You are Citadel Men, you have no pension for failure, you wear the Ring, you never let a friend down, you will be good fathers, husbands, and leaders in the armed forces and industry, you are strong in heart, body, and mind. You protect such things as Honor and Fidelity. Your virtues will matter ... you are the last of the knights.
