Having attended Radford University and grew up in the New River Valley, I feel a great loss over this senseless act. Having spoke with Officer Hylton numerous times at Radford, I can say he was the nicest person and most professional officer one could meet. I didnt end up joining the National Guard, but he was one of the reasons one of my roommates did, however we did both go into law enforcement. I can only hope to become the officer and man that Scott Hylton is. God bless you brother and the Christiansburg PD.

Ofc. Scott Sparks
Chesterfield County Police Dept, Va

Rest in peace for your watch here is over walk in heavens beat and guide us all to protect and serve others safely.

It pains me to see of yet another of America's bravest and finest stricken at the hands of the worst among us. Your sacrifice and bravery will NEVER be forgotten.

I came home from work and hung a Blue ribbon on my mailbox. My neighbors saw only a Blue ribbon. I saw the face of Ofc. Hylton and the countless other faces that gave the ultimate. I had not met you, and probably never would have, but we were bonded in our spirits. For in our spirits is an unbelievable sense love for our fellow man and a thirst to root out wrong and make our small part of the world right.

You were a fine credit to the Badge sir, and I commend you. To the family you left behind, rest assured that he is watching. Ever as vigilant as he was when at work, he is protecting us, comforting us and helping us smile when it gets rough. You are not alone in your sorrow for we all mourn the loss of a friend. Thank you for supporting him in the proffession I know he loved and performed in so well.

Ofc. Hylton you paid the ultimate sacrafice, Ofc. Hylton you paid the final price, Ofc. Hylton you died a hero, Ofc. Hylton you will never be forgotten. We will light a candle at police week this week for one more in blue, never knew Ofc. Hylton personally, but ironic enough he was my brother. To my brother in blue rest in peace and may god be with your family in this time of need. God Bless!

Deputy Sheriff

From this day to the ending of the world,
But we in it shall be remember'd;
We few, we happy few, we band of brothers;
For he to-day that sheds his blood with me
Shall be my brother;

As we celebrate Police Week, I can't help but think about how tragic and sickening this was, to lose a fine veteran officer on such in such senseless circumstanaces.

I pray for the officer's family, his colleagues, friends and our law enforcement family. This shows that no call is "routine".
We all feel the loss, because we are all family of the badge. The Old Dominion State lost a fine officer on that sad day.

I am from Virginia and a National Guardsman, so this hits close to home.

He now patrols the streets of Heaven with St. Michael. Be safe and God Bless.
